India has 60 active government-funded engineering colleges including 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 25 IIITs, 7 GFTIs and several state public universities. Government colleges offer the most affordable engineering education in India with annual tuition typically 1.5 to 2.5 lakhs. Admission is through JEE Advanced (IITs), JEE Main + JoSAA (NITs and IIITs), state CETs and university-specific entrances.
