FAQ

IGDTUW FAQs

What is the B.Tech fee at IGDTUW Delhi for 2026-27?
IGDTUW is a state women-only technical university funded by the Government of NCT Delhi, with B.Tech tuition fees in the range of approximately Rs 1.6-1.8 lakh per academic year (subject to standard revisions and Delhi government scholarship-based fee waivers for eligible categories). Hostel fees, mess fees and other charges are billed separately. Final fee notifications for 2026-27 are released on the official IGDTUW website (igdtuw.ac.in) and through the IGDTUW admissions portal.
Is the B.Tech fee at IGDTUW lower than at private engineering colleges?
Yes. As a state-funded technical university, IGDTUW charges substantially lower B.Tech tuition fees than private engineering colleges and women-only deemed universities, where annual fees typically range from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 4+ lakh per year. The Delhi-government-subsidised IGDTUW fee structure makes it one of the most affordable high-quality B.Tech destinations for women in north India and across the country.
Are scholarships and fee waivers available at IGDTUW?
Yes. IGDTUW students can access the Delhi government merit-cum-means scholarship, the SC/ST/OBC post-matric scholarship schemes, the AICTE Pragati and Saksham scholarships for women and differently-abled students, the Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships and various private trust scholarships. The university also offers tuition-fee waivers under the Delhi government's economically-weaker-section scholarship framework for eligible candidates.
How do I apply for B.Tech admission at IGDTUW Delhi?
B.Tech admission to IGDTUW is conducted through the IGDTUW JEE Main-based centralised counselling. Women candidates appear for JEE Main, register on the IGDTUW admissions portal (igdtuw.ac.in), upload Class 12 and Delhi-region documents, complete online choice-filling listing the desired B.Tech programme, receive provisional seat allotment based on JEE Main rank and the Delhi-region (85%) versus All-India (15%) quota, complete document verification, and report at IGDTUW on the designated admission date.
What is the eligibility for B.Tech admission at IGDTUW?
Candidates must be women, must have completed Class 12 (Higher Secondary) or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as core subjects, securing at least 60 percent aggregate marks (55 percent for SC/ST/PwD per Delhi government rules), and must qualify the JEE Main examination conducted by the National Testing Agency. Delhi-region domicile is required to claim the 85 percent Delhi-region quota; women candidates from other states can apply through the All-India 15 percent quota.
When was IGDTUW Delhi established?
IGDTUW was established in 2013 by an Act of the Delhi Legislative Assembly — the Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women Act, 2012 (Delhi Act 9 of 2012) — which upgraded the existing Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (IGIT) to a full state women-only technical university. IGIT itself was established in 1998 by the Government of NCT of Delhi as one of the first women-only engineering colleges in north India.
What is the affiliation and accreditation of IGDTUW?
IGDTUW is a state women-only technical university under the IGDTUW Act 2012 (Delhi Act 9 of 2012), funded by the Government of NCT of Delhi. The university is autonomous and awards its own degrees with no external affiliation.
What B.Tech programmes does IGDTUW offer?
IGDTUW offers a focused B.Tech programme suite covering Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical and Automation Engineering, and Architecture (B.Arch). Postgraduate programmes include M.Tech across departments, MCA, MBA, M.Plan and PhD research programmes. All programmes are women-only.
