NIT Mizoram operates a fully residential campus model — 100% of BTech, MTech and PhD students live on-campus across 5 hostel blocks (3 boys, 2 girls). Hostel fee for 2026-27 is INR 11,000 per semester + INR 7,500 monthly mess fee — total INR 70,000 per academic year. All rooms are twin-sharing for first-year, single-occupancy from second year onwards. Mess offers North Indian, South Indian, Continental, Mizo, and Bengali rotation, with separate Jain counter. Each room has built-in study desk, cot, wardrobe and 24x7 100 Mbps Wi-Fi.

The Director Merit Scholarship awards INR 25,000 per semester to top 5% of each batch. Inspire Scholarship from DST covers INR 80,000 per year for top 1% JEE Main scorers. Industry-sponsored: Microsoft Aspire Award, Adobe-NIT Excellence Fellowship, Tata Scholarship for SC/ST. NIT Mizoram drives focused research across AI/ML, IoT, smart cities, sustainable energy, biotechnology, signal processing, environmental engineering for Northeast region, and structural engineering. The institute houses Centre of Excellence in AI and Robotics, the Centre for Renewable Energy, the IoT and Smart City Lab, and the Centre for Cyber Security. Faculty publish 100-120 SCI/Scopus papers annually with research grants from DST, MeitY, DRDO, ISRO, SERB, North Eastern Council and Mizoram State Council on Science and Technology totaling INR 6-9 crore at any given time.

What is the B.Tech tuition fee at NIT Mizoram for 2026-27?
B.Tech tuition at NIT Mizoram is approximately Rs 1.6-1.8 lakh per year inclusive of tuition, examination and institute fees. As a centrally funded NIT, the fee is government-regulated. Hostel and mess charges are billed separately. SC/ST candidates and economically weaker sections receive substantial fee waivers under MoE policy.
Are scholarships and fee waivers available at NIT Mizoram?
Yes. NIT Mizoram offers Central Sector Scholarships, MCM merit-cum-means scholarships, SC/ST/OBC fee waivers and full tuition waivers for students whose family income is below Rs 1 lakh per annum. Additional Mizoram state-government scholarships, North-East Council scholarships and corporate-sponsored scholarships further reduce the effective cost of study. Total annual cost is approximately Rs 2.0-2.4 lakh including tuition (~Rs 1.7L), hostel rent and mess (~Rs 30-45K) and books, lab and miscellaneous charges (~Rs 10-15K). Over four years the total cost works out to roughly Rs 8-9.5 lakh. SC/ST students with full waiver pay only hostel/mess costs.
How do I get admission to B.Tech at NIT Mizoram?
Admission is based on JEE Main score with seat allocation through Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling on josaa.nic.in. Candidates must clear JEE Main, secure a competitive rank, register for JoSAA, lock branch and college preferences and be allocated a seat across six rounds. NIT Mizoram follows the 50-50 home-state/other-state quota.
What is the eligibility for B.Tech at NIT Mizoram?
Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry/Biotechnology and Mathematics as core subjects with at least 75% aggregate (65% for SC/ST/PwD) or be in the top 20 percentile of their qualifying board.
