Government Engineering College Haveri — Fees, Placements & Admission 2026

Government Engineering College (GEC) Haveri was established in 2007 by the Government of Karnataka to expand technical education in the rural Northern Karnataka region. It is a fully government-owned institution administered by the Department of Collegiate and Technical Education (DCTE, formerly DTE) Karnataka, affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) Belagavi and approved by AICTE (Permanent Institution ID 1-20278613). The campus is located at Devagiri, Haveri-581110.

GEC Haveri is located on a 33-acre hillock in Devagiri village, approximately 10 km from Haveri town in the Haveri district of Karnataka (PIN 581110). The campus is surrounded by water bodies and offers academic blocks, engineering laboratories, a central library with VTU consortium access and SC/ST book bank, a boys hostel with mess, sports facilities, an auditorium, cafeteria, medical room and placement cell. The nearest railway station is Karajgi (4 km) and the nearest airport is Hubballi (75 km).

GEC Haveri offers four B.E. programmes — Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering — each with 60 sanctioned seats, for a total UG intake of 240 seats plus a 5% Supernumerary Quota (SNQ) of 12 additional seats, per Karnataka government notification ED 170 TEC 2025. The curriculum follows VTU Belagavi norms and examinations.

GEC Haveri is currently not NAAC-accredited and does not have NBA accreditation for any branch. The college is also not ranked in the NIRF 2024 Engineering rankings (absent from the 101-300 band). However, it is approved by AICTE (ID 1-20278613) and is affiliated to VTU Belagavi, conferring standardised VTU-stamped B.E. degrees. GEC Haveri offers two M.Tech specialisations — M.Tech in Structural Engineering (Civil, 18 seats, since 2011) and M.Tech in Machine Design (Mechanical, since 2015) — admitted through Karnataka PGCET. Candidates must hold a valid B.E./B.Tech degree in the relevant discipline. Additionally, the Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering departments are VTU-recognised research centres offering PhD programmes.

Per the KEA revised fee notification 2025 (ED 170 TEC 2025), GEC Haveri charges ₹44,200 annual tuition for KCET General Merit candidates and ₹20,610 for SNQ seats. SC/ST students and families with annual income up to ₹10 lakh are fully exempted from tuition under the 2025 waiver revision. Partial concessions apply to Category 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B candidates with eligible income certificates. The four-year B.E. total is well under ₹2 lakh for most general-category students.
