AIT was established in 2000 under the JMJ Education Society, a unit of the Acharya Group of Institutions (founded 1990). The engineering college itself started admissions in 2000-2001 with CSE, ISE, ECE, and Civil, and is chaired by founder Dr. B. Premnath Reddy.
Is AIT Bangalore affiliated to VTU or is it autonomous?
AIT is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, and is approved by AICTE New Delhi under the latest approval letter dated 5 April 2025. It is not autonomous; all B.E. programmes follow VTU curriculum and examination.

Does AIT Bangalore currently offer M.Tech programmes?
No. AIT's Mandatory Disclosure 2026 and AICTE approval letter dated 5 April 2025 both confirm that the active PG offering is limited to MBA and MCA. M.Tech programmes that older listings reference have been discontinued and are not part of the 2025-26 intake.
