Fee verification guide

Why management quota fee numbers differ

Parents often see three different numbers for the same college and branch: an official circular fee, a counsellor payable estimate, and an old consultant/blog figure. The right answer depends on route, category, year, receipt basis, and whether one-time components are included.

How CollegeAndFees verifies fee numbers

We start with official admission circulars, college fee disclosures, KEA/COMEDK documents, and published college pages wherever available.

For management-quota rows that colleges do not clearly publish online, our fees are sourced via direct discussions with the college admission department and then checked against admissions being completed at the exact fee levels.

CollegeAndFees verified fee sheet, May 2026, is curated from official disclosures, admissions-office conversations, and completed admission confirmations. It is not scraped from competitors, and public pages label whether a row is official, source-linked, or counsellor verified.

Official tuition

The official tuition is the amount published in a college circular, admission brochure, or fee disclosure. It is the first number we try to anchor because it is the easiest for a parent to verify against an official receipt.

Development fee

Some colleges or counsellor networks quote a separate development component. It may be one-time, branch-specific, or bundled into a first-year payable amount. Always ask whether it appears on the official receipt and whether it is refundable.

One-time payable

A one-time payable is not the same as annual tuition. If Year 1 is higher than Years 2-4, the page should label it as Year 1 payable and show the four-year total instead of calling it a per-year fee.

Annual tuition

Annual tuition is the recurring tuition amount charged each academic year. For many management-quota rows it is the cleanest number; for top CSE seats it may not explain the full first-year payment parents are asked to make.

Hostel and transport

Hostel, mess, transport, laptop, uniform, and insurance charges are often billed separately. CollegeAndFees keeps these out of tuition unless the source explicitly says the amount is all-inclusive.

NRI, sponsored, PIO, OCI and FN categories

NRI or sponsored categories can use a different fee table from management quota. Do not compare an NRI annual fee with a domestic management-quota payable total without checking the category and currency basis.

College-level other fees

Application fee, university fee, exam fee, lab fee, skill fee, caution deposit, and college-level other fees can move the final payable total. We show them separately when the source separates them.

Consultant misinformation

Admission agents sometimes quote old numbers, omit one-time components, or use competitor college fees to create urgency. Treat any number without branch, route, academic year, and receipt basis as incomplete.

Refund and receipt rules

Before paying, ask whose bank account receives the money, what the official receipt says, which components are refundable, and how cancellation works after counselling rounds begin.

What to ask before paying

  • Which branch, route, category, and academic year does this number apply to?
  • Is the amount official tuition, Year 1 payable, development fee, or total four-year payable?
  • Will every rupee be paid to the institution account and reflected on an official receipt?
  • Which components are refundable if the student withdraws after counselling or allotment?
  • Does the fee include hostel, transport, university fees, exam fees, or only tuition?
