BMCRI is attached to five government teaching hospitals in central Bengaluru. Victoria Hospital, whose foundation stone was laid in 1897 and which was inaugurated in 1900 by Viceroy Lord Curzon, is described officially as one of the largest hospitals in India. Vani Vilas Women & Children Hospital (1935) provides obstetrics, gynaecology, paediatrics and a NICU; the Minto Ophthalmic Hospital is a 300-bed Regional Institute of Ophthalmology tracing to 1896 with its own eye bank; the PMSSY Super Specialty Hospital runs Cardiology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Paediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Surgical Gastroenterology with liver transplant; and a Trauma & Emergency Care Centre completes the network. The campus has 28 teaching departments, spacious classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, skill labs, museums, a Library & Information Centre and auditoriums. BMCRI's attached teaching hospitals provide roughly 1,790 UG/PG teaching beds plus a 203-bed PMSSY super-speciality block and a 120-bed emergency facility. Victoria Hospital alone has around 900 functional beds and performs close to 51,000 operations a year, and the hospital network recorded about 6.89 lakh outpatient and 75,000 inpatient visits in 2019 — one of the largest clinical caseloads in Karnataka.
