IIIT Una — Fees, Placements & Admission 2026

IIIT Una follows the Ministry of Education (MoE) fee structure for Public-Private Partnership IIITs. General, OBC, and EWS category students typically pay approximately Rs 90,000 to Rs 1.10 lakh per semester (Rs 1.8-2.2 lakh per year) as tuition, subject to periodic MoE revision. SC, ST, and PwD category students receive a full tuition fee waiver. Students from families with annual income below Rs 1 lakh receive a full waiver, while those with family income between Rs 1-5 lakh receive a two-thirds waiver under the Government of India fee remission scheme applicable to IIITs.

Hostel accommodation and mess charges at IIIT Una are billed separately from tuition. Combined hostel rent, electricity, mess advance, establishment charges, and caution deposit typically total Rs 60,000 to Rs 80,000 per year for residential students. Boys and girls hostels are provided with furnished rooms, dining halls, Wi-Fi, laundry, and recreation facilities. Most B.Tech students stay on campus since the institute runs a fully residential programme with an in-house mess.

Beyond the statutory SC/ST/PwD and income-based waivers, IIIT Una students can apply for Merit-cum-Means (MCM) scholarships, Institute Free Studentship, and central government scholarship schemes such as National Scholarship Portal awards. State-level Himachal Pradesh scholarship schemes, industry endowment scholarships, and project-based research stipends provide additional financial support. Undergraduate summer research fellowships and teaching/research assistantships are available for qualifying students.

B.Tech admission at IIIT Una is exclusively through JEE Main scores via the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling and the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) supplementary rounds — the centralised process for all 20 PPP-IIITs, 31 NITs, and GFTIs. Candidates appear for JEE Main, secure a valid All-India Rank, then participate in JoSAA choice filling and seat allocation. Branch and category preferences along with home-state/other-state quota under the 50:50 formula determine final seat allocation.

IIIT Una was established in 2014 under the Public-Private Partnership model of the Ministry of Education (formerly MHRD), Government of India, jointly with the Government of Himachal Pradesh and industry partners. It was accorded Institute of National Importance status through the Indian Institutes of Information Technology (Public-Private Partnership) Act, 2017. It is an autonomous institution governed by its own Board of Governors with NIT Hamirpur serving as mentor institute during the set-up phase.

IIIT Una is located at Saloh, Una District, Himachal Pradesh 177209, in the scenic Shivalik foothills of northern Himachal. Academic operations began in 2014 from a temporary campus inside NIT Hamirpur. The permanent campus has been progressively commissioned with dedicated academic blocks, laboratories, hostels, faculty residences, and sports facilities. The location offers a calm residential environment with easy road connectivity to Chandigarh (~100 km) and Delhi NCR.

IIIT Una offers four-year B.Tech programmes in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), and Information Technology (IT). The curriculum is designed in close consultation with NIT Hamirpur and covers core computer science and electronics subjects with industry-aligned electives in data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, cloud computing, embedded systems, and communications. Capstone projects, industry internships, and research-fellowship opportunities are integral.
