Jadavpur University — Fees, Placements & Admission 2026

Jadavpur University is a State University funded by the Government of West Bengal, and its B.E. tuition is among the lowest in India for an institution of its calibre. For 2026-27, the published B.E. tuition fee is approximately Rs 9,000 to Rs 15,000 per academic year for state-quota students, with applicable fee waivers and remissions for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PwD candidates and family-income-based fee remission for general students. The fee structure is approved by the Jadavpur University Executive Council and the Government of West Bengal Higher Education Department. The exact published fee for the relevant year should always be verified on the official Jadavpur University website (jaduniv.edu.in) and the WBJEEB admissions portal.

Beyond tuition, B.E. students at Jadavpur University pay a one-time admission/registration fee, refundable caution deposits, examination fees, gymkhana and student-activity fees, an annual library and laboratory fee, and medical insurance. Hostel residents additionally pay a hostel rent and mess advance for the academic year (with the mess operating on a no-profit-no-loss basis). The total annual cost of attendance for a state-quota resident B.E. student typically falls in the Rs 30,000-50,000 range inclusive of hostel, mess and other fees, while day-scholar students pay only the academic fee components. All current fee notifications are published on the official Jadavpur University website.

B.E. admission to Jadavpur University Faculty of Engineering and Technology is governed by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) on the basis of WBJEE scores for state-quota seats and JEE Main scores for All-India quota seats. Candidates must register on the WBJEEB e-Counselling portal (wbjeeb.nic.in), fill choices listing Jadavpur University branches in their order of preference along with IIEST Shibpur, NIT Durgapur and other West Bengal engineering colleges, and accept seats allotted in the WBJEEB rounds. Document verification is conducted online and at the reporting centre, followed by physical reporting at Jadavpur University for admission completion. Approximately 90% of seats are allocated through WBJEE state quota and 10% through the JEE Main All-India quota. The latest brochure and WBJEEB business rules are published on the official Jadavpur University admissions page.

Candidates must have passed Class XII (10+2) with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and any one of Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology or Computer Science as the third compulsory subject, securing at least 45% aggregate (40% for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PwD candidates) in the relevant subjects. Candidates must also have appeared in WBJEE (for state-quota seats) and/or JEE Main (for All-India quota seats) and meet the qualifying cutoff for the relevant category. Lateral-entry candidates must hold a recognised three-year diploma in engineering with the relevant minimum aggregate. The exact eligibility cut-off marks and category relaxations are notified annually in the WBJEEB business rules and the Jadavpur University admissions brochure.
