RVCE vs NITK

RV College of Engineering (Bangalore, autonomous private VTU-affiliated) and NITK Surathkal (Mangalore, central NIT) are two of Karnataka top engineering brands. RVCE admits through KCET (45% government quota), COMEDK and management quota. NITK admits through JEE Main via JoSAA central counselling.

RVCE sanctioned intake is approximately 1,200 across CSE, ECE, EEE, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Bio-tech, IT, IS and emerging programmes including AI/ML and CS-Cyber Security. NITK tuition is approximately 1.5 lakhs per year flat (NIT centrally-set fee). For KCET-quota students, RVCE is significantly cheaper.

For Karnataka-domicile students with strong KCET ranks (top 1,000), RVCE government quota at 80K per year is the best value option. For students with JEE Main rank within 4,000 (Home State), NITK Surathkal is competitive. For Bangalore-tech career, RVCE has the proximity edge.
