FAQ
NIT AP South FAQs
What is the B.Tech fee at NIT Andhra Pradesh for 2026-27?
NIT Andhra Pradesh is a centrally-funded Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, with B.Tech tuition fees in the range of approximately Rs 1.6-1.8 lakh per academic year (subject to standard revisions and Government-of-India tuition-fee waivers for eligible categories). Hostel fees, mess fees and other charges are billed separately. Final fee notifications for 2026-27 are released on the official NIT AP website (nitandhra.ac.in) and through the JoSAA counselling portal.
Is the B.Tech fee at NIT AP lower than at private engineering colleges?
Yes. As a centrally-funded NIT and Institute of National Importance, NIT Andhra Pradesh charges substantially lower B.Tech tuition fees than private engineering colleges and private deemed universities, where annual fees typically range from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 4+ lakh per year. The Government-subsidised NIT fee structure makes NIT AP one of the most affordable high-quality B.Tech destinations in Andhra Pradesh and south India.
Are scholarships and fee waivers available at NIT AP?
Yes. NIT Andhra Pradesh students can access the MoE Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships, the SC/ST/OBC post-matric scholarship schemes, the AICTE Pragati and Saksham scholarships for women and differently-abled students, the Andhra Pradesh state government scholarship schemes for AP-domicile candidates, and various private trust and alumni scholarships. The institute also offers tuition-fee waivers under the standard NIT fee-remission framework for eligible economically-weaker-section candidates.
How do I apply for B.Tech admission at NIT Andhra Pradesh?
B.Tech admission to NIT Andhra Pradesh is conducted through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) centralised counselling. Candidates must appear for JEE Main, register on the JoSAA portal (josaa.nic.in), complete online choice-filling listing NIT AP and the desired B.Tech programme, receive provisional seat allotment based on JEE Main rank and the home-state/other-state quota, complete online document upload and verification, and report at NIT AP on the designated admission date. The standard NIT 50-50 home-state (Andhra Pradesh) and other-state quota applies.
What is the eligibility for B.Tech admission at NIT AP?
Candidates must have completed Class 12 (Higher Secondary) or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as core subjects, securing at least 75 percent aggregate marks (65 percent for SC/ST/PwD) or be in the top 20 percentile of their respective Class 12 board, in line with the standard MoE NIT eligibility framework. Candidates must qualify the JEE Main examination conducted by the National Testing Agency, with All-India Common Rank determining JoSAA seat allocation.
