Government Engineering College Krishnarajpet (also known as GEC K.R. Pete) is a Karnataka state-government engineering institution established in 2007 by the Department of Collegiate and Technical Education (DCTE), Government of Karnataka. The campus is within easy reach of Mandya, Mysuru, Hassan and Bengaluru, supporting industrial visits, guest lectures and internship opportunities at Karnataka manufacturing and IT-industry sites. Krishnarajpet is well-connected by road, approximately 60 km from Mysuru and 150 km from Bengaluru.

GEC Krishnarajpet offers B.E. programmes in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Mechanical Engineering (ME) and Civil Engineering (CE). The approved VTU intake is typically around 60 students per branch, giving a total annual UG intake of approximately 180-240 seats, with a small share of supernumerary lateral-entry seats for diploma-holders added via Karnataka DCET. The curriculum follows the VTU Choice Based Credit System and includes core theory, laboratory practicals, mini-projects, industrial internships and a major project in the final year. Faculty-student ratio and laboratory infrastructure are maintained per AICTE and VTU standards.
