NIT Goa runs an extensive on-campus hostel system on its 50-acre Farmagudi campus. First-year B.Tech students typically get triple-occupancy rooms with double rooms from the second year and single rooms from the third year by seniority. Annual hostel and mess fees for 2025-26 are heavily subsidised — typically ₹35,000-55,000 per academic year inclusive of mess. Mess service includes vegetarian, non-vegetarian and Jain options across hostels with student-elected mess secretaries; menus combine North Indian, Konkani-Goan cuisine, South Indian and limited Continental rotations.

NIT Goa runs comprehensive financial aid. SC/ST students receive full tuition waivers plus Central Government Post-matric Scholarship covering hostel and mess. Students from families with annual income below ₹1 lakh receive 100% tuition remission; those between ₹1-5 lakh receive 67% remission. Defence wards qualify for PM Scholarship Scheme. Merit-cum-Means scholarship covers ₹1,000 per month plus tuition for top 25% of low-income students. AICTE Pragati for girl students and AICTE Saksham for differently-abled students are accepted. KVPY and INSPIRE fellows continue receiving fellowships.

What is the B.Tech fee structure at NIT Goa for 2026-27?
NIT Goa charges centrally-uniform NIT B.Tech tuition of approximately Rs 1,49,500 per year (Rs 74,750 per semester) for general/OBC/EWS candidates. SC/ST/PwD candidates and candidates from families with annual income below Rs 1 lakh receive full tuition fee waiver under the centrally-funded NIT fee remission scheme. Hostel and mess charges of approximately Rs 60,000-70,000 per year are billed separately. Total annual outlay including tuition, hostel, mess and one-time charges works out to approximately Rs 2.1-2.3 lakh for general candidates.
Are scholarships available at NIT Goa?
Yes. NIT Goa offers central government MCM (Merit-cum-Means) scholarships for candidates with family income below Rs 4.5 lakh per annum, full tuition fee remission for SC/ST/PwD candidates, and Top-25-percent-of-class merit scholarships. B.Tech admission to NIT Goa is exclusively through JEE Main score with seat allocation via the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling. Candidates must qualify Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (75 percent aggregate or top-20-percentile of the respective board), appear in JEE Main, and participate in the JoSAA counselling rounds. Seat allocation follows the centrally-uniform NIT 50 percent Home State (Goa) quota and 50 percent Other State quota distribution under the All-India NIT seat matrix.
What is the JEE Main cutoff for NIT Goa?
For 2025 admissions, the closing JEE Main rank for CSE was approximately 11,000-15,000 (Other State quota) and 18,000-25,000 (Home State quota). NIT Goa permanent campus is being developed at Cuncolim, South Goa, Goa 403703, on a 300-acre site allocated by the Government of Goa, with phased commissioning of academic blocks, hostels, faculty residences and research laboratories. The location in South Goa provides students access to the broader Konkan coastal region with proximity to Mumbai, Mangaluru and the Goa industrial ecosystem. NIT Surathkal acted as the mentor institute during the early set-up phase.
