Scholarships

Scholarships

The college's own FAQ answers this directly: 'Currently, no scholarships or discounts are available' for MBBS — an honest, unusually plain disclosure. (PES University's MRD and CNR Rao merit scholarships are CGPA/SGPA-based schemes for its other programmes and do not apply.) The only fee concession published is the 10 percent discount for paying the remaining 3.5 years of course fees upfront after year 1. Karnataka state-quota students can pursue SSP/NSP government scholarships independently.

Infrastructure & facilities

Labs, library, sports, hostels & campus facilities

The institute sits inside PES University's Electronic City campus on Hosur Road — a functioning tech-corridor university campus in south Bengaluru, which the college says fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and serves patients from neighbouring Tamil Nadu districts as well. The teaching hospital block (its rooftop signage reads 'PES University Hospital' in the college's own campus photographs) is KPME-registered as a Level-4 Teaching hospital — registered on 26-12-2022, about eighteen months before the college's first Letter of Permission — and the college discloses 950 beds department-wise along with month-by-month outpatient and inpatient registers running since July 2023. The campus includes wood-panelled lecture theatres, histology/biochemistry practical labs, an anatomy demonstration room, central lab, sports facilities and hostels whose fees (including food, laundry and recreation) are published.

Research & rankings

Centres, patents, grants & MoU partners

PES University Institute of Medical Sciences and Research is Bengaluru's newest private medical college — established in 2024 as the medical school of PES University, the People's Education Society's (founded 1972) state private university whose 2013 Act expressly listed Medicine among its objects. The teaching hospital was KPME-registered eighteen months before the college's first Letter of Permission and publishes month-by-month patient registers from July 2023 — roughly 3 lakh outpatient visits in 2024, rising through 2025. The first MBBS batch was admitted in AY 2024-25 (100 seats, raised to 150 the next year), so university examination results, pass percentages and intern stipends do not yet exist and none are claimed. The college maintains the NMC-mandated faculty complement across its 21 departments, with per-department faculty profiles published in its NMC disclosures.

FAQ

PES University Institute of Medical Sciences FAQs

How many MBBS seats does PES University Institute of Medical Sciences have?
150 from AY 2025-26 — the college was established with a 100-seat Letter of Permission for AY 2024-25 and a further LOP raised the intake by 50. The published split is 60 government (40%), 60 private (40%), 20 NRI (15%) and 10 management (5%) seats. There are no postgraduate courses yet — the NMC course search shows exactly one course (MBBS) for this college.
Is PES University Institute of Medical Sciences recognised by the NMC?
MBBS is PERMITTED under a Letter of Permission, not recognised — the NMC record shows the establishment LOP (100 seats, AY 2024-25), the increase to 150 (AY 2025-26) and annual renewal. That is the normal status for a college whose first batch was admitted in 2024; degree recognition is sought after the first batch graduates (around 2029-30). The college's own disclosure page for the LOP letter still reads 'Awaiting for Assessment', so no letter number is cited here.
Which university is PES University Institute of Medical Sciences under?
It is the medical school of PES University, Bengaluru — a Karnataka state private university created by Act No. 16 of 2013, whose objects expressly include Medicine, with degree powers confirmed by the UGC (letter of March 2015). It is NOT a deemed university: admission is via KEA, not MCC. The People's Education Society behind it was founded in 1972.
What are the hostel fees at PES University Institute of Medical Sciences?
Published on the college's fee page, inclusive of accommodation, food, laundry and recreation: Rs 1,90,000 per year for 3-sharing or Rs 1,60,000 for 4-sharing, plus a one-time refundable caution deposit of Rs 30,000 — so Rs 2,10,000 / Rs 1,90,000 in year 1, with a stated 5 percent annual increase. Fees are paid through the PESU app.
How big is the hospital at PES University Institute of Medical Sciences?
The college discloses 950 beds department-wise (General Medicine 225, General Surgery 200, Paediatrics 125, OBG 125, Orthopaedics 100, Emergency 40, ICU 30 and more). The hospital was KPME-registered as a Level-4 Teaching hospital in December 2022 — eighteen months before the college's first LOP — and publishes monthly patient registers from July 2023: summing them, 2024 saw about 3,02,891 outpatient visits (~828/day) and 23,371 admissions, rising to ~3,43,870 outpatient visits in January-October 2025. It has no NABH accreditation yet (an internal NABH committee exists, and that is all that is claimed).
Is PES University Institute of Medical Sciences safe — are there anti-ragging and harassment committees?
Yes. The Anti-Ragging Committee (reconstituted October 2025) is chaired by the Dean & Principal and includes the Vice Principal, administrative officer, hostel coordinators for the boys' and girls' hostels, a warden and the Circle Inspector of the local police station, with separate flying squads for each hostel; a Gender Harassment Committee (coordinator: the OBG department head, with external members) and a Grievance Redressal Committee with a named Ombudsperson are also published, along with a student grievance policy. The national anti-ragging helpline and portal (antiragging.in) apply additionally.
Are there scholarships for MBBS at PES University Institute of Medical Sciences?
No — the college's own FAQ states plainly: 'Currently, no scholarships or discounts are available.' PES University's MRD and CNR Rao merit scholarships are CGPA/SGPA-based schemes for its other programmes and do not apply to MBBS. The only published concession is the 10 percent discount for paying the remaining 3.5 years of fees upfront; government scholarship portals (SSP/NSP) remain open to eligible state-quota students.
What is the MBBS pass percentage and stipend at PES University Institute of Medical Sciences?
Neither exists yet, and none is claimed: the first batch was admitted in AY 2024-25, so no university examination results or pass percentages have been published, and internships (with stipends) will only begin around 2028-29. This is the honest position for a college this new — compare it against established colleges if results history matters to you.
