JJM Medical College (Jagadguru Jayadeva Murugarajendra Medical College, JJMMC) is one of Karnataka's oldest private medical colleges - established in 1965 by the Bapuji Educational Association 'with consensus and permission of Government of Karnataka, Medical Council of India and Central Government', per its About page, with the first Letter of Permission dated 22.10.1965 for 300 seats. The Bapuji Educational Association (founded 1958) grew into 46+ institutions and earned Davangere the name 'The Oxford of Karnataka'. The college has run postgraduate medicine since 1973 - half a century of MD/MS training across what is now a 21-speciality, 246-seat matrix - and its students appear repeatedly in the RGUHS university rank lists the college publishes (2017, 2018, 2020 and 2022-23 rank-holders in both UG and PG, including four PG first ranks in 2018). Its published university-exam results show an aggregate UG pass rate of 78.88% across 464 candidates in the 2019 June exams (phase-wise 68.75%-92.06%), with subject-wise pass rates of 70%-93% in the December 2019/January 2020 MBBS exams. Leadership today: Principal Dr. Shukla Shetty (M.S. Obstetrics & Gynaecology), under Hon. Chairman Dr. Shamanur Shivashankarappa, with Dr. M.G. Rajashekarappa as Director of General Administration and Dr. Alur Manjunath as Dean (Research); an older principal's-message page still carries former principal Dr. S.B. Murugesh. NAAC and NIRF list no entry for the college on its own site, and none is claimed.

FAQ

JJM Medical College, Davangere FAQs

What is the management quota fee for MBBS at JJM Medical College Davangere?
The management (Q/Others) tuition is Rs 39,11,950 per year in the KEA 2025-26 fee notification (college code M061) - identical to the NRI tier. Over the 4.5-year course, management-tier tuition works out to about Rs 1.76 crore (derived from the KEA per-year figure; tuition only - the college publishes no course total, hostel fee or payment schedule).

In KEA CET-2024 Round 2 (the latest consolidated KEA cutoff publication, code M061), the government/state-quota General Merit MBBS seat closed at NEET-UG All-India rank 42,270. Category closings: 3BG 48,163, 3AG 53,900, 2BG 59,129, 1G 62,852, GMR 63,356, 2AG 64,872, GMK 79,417, ST 1,59,932, SC 1,80,671. In the private-quota publication, Open (OPN) closed at 69,712, GMP at 95,248, the Others/management seat at 13,13,635 and the NRI seat at 11,06,202.
How many MBBS seats does JJM Medical College Davangere have?
245 - confirmed in the NMC's UG seat matrix of 03-12-2025 for both AY 2024-25 and 2025-26, on the college's UG course page ('Total Annual Intake: 245') and in its NMC disclosure. The original 1965 Letter of Permission was for 300 seats; the current sanctioned strength is 245. The college states the government:management seat-sharing ratio is 50:50, subject to change.
Is there direct admission to MBBS at JJM Medical College Davangere?
No seat at JJM Medical College is allotted outside NEET and KEA counselling. The management/Others and NRI tiers are also KEA-allotted (code M061) - in CET-2024 they closed at very high NEET ranks (13,13,635 and 11,06,202), which means these tiers effectively fill at the KEA-notified quota fee of Rs 39,11,950 a year, but a NEET qualification and a KEA allotment are still mandatory. Treat any agent promising a seat outside NEET/KEA with extreme caution.
Is JJM Medical College Davangere recognised by the NMC?
Yes - MBBS is Recognized (NMC code KA/027/P/3). The college's NMC disclosure records the first Letter of Permission dated 22.10.1965 (300 seats) and 'Status of Recognition: Recognized'. The NMC archival record notes the recent renewals verbatim: 'COR granted for one(01) year for 2022-23 only. Permitted for admission for 2023-24. Annual renewal permission granted for 245 MBBS seats for AY 2024-25.' Most MD/MS courses are Recognized too; MD General Medicine is listed as Permitted.
What MD/MS (PG) courses and seats does JJM Medical College Davangere offer?
246 MD/MS seats across 21 specialities per the NMC PG seat matrix of 30-01-2026 - the largest being MD General Medicine (28 seats), MS Obstetrics & Gynaecology (25), MD Pathology (24), MD Paediatrics (20) and MD Anaesthesiology (20). The college has run PG medicine since 1973. DM/MCh: nil per the college's NMC disclosure, and JJM has no row in the NMC super-speciality matrix - the Davangere DM/MCh seats there belong to SSIMS, a different college.
What are the MD/MS fees at JJM Medical College Davangere?
Per the KEA PG medical fee notification 2025-26 (PG code M14 - not the UG code M061): government tier Rs 1,11,015 a year for pre-clinical MDs, Rs 2,07,027 for para-clinical and Rs 7,83,108 for clinical courses; private tier Rs 1,87,668 / Rs 3,58,253 / Rs 13,87,994 on the same bands. Management/Others and NRI tiers range from Rs 1,87,668 (pre-clinical) up to Rs 1,00,15,000 a year for MD Dermatology and MD Radio Diagnosis, with MD General Medicine and MS General Surgery at Rs 80,15,000.
What is the NEET-PG cutoff for JJM Medical College Davangere?
Computed from KEA's official PGET-2025 final allotment lists (code M14, all five rounds): the government-quota MD Radio Diagnosis seat last went at NEET-PG All-India rank 12,089, MD Psychiatry at 15,872, MD Dermatology at 22,648, MD General Medicine at 1,07,244 and MD Pathology at 1,82,467. On the management/Others tier MD General Medicine last went at 97,833 and MD Radio Diagnosis at 1,46,582. These are last-allotted ranks computed from the official lists, not an official KEA cutoff publication - the full per-speciality table is on this page.
What is the MBBS pass percentage and internship stipend at JJM Medical College Davangere?
The college's published university-results statement (linked from its NMC disclosure) shows an aggregate UG pass rate of 78.88% across 464 candidates in the 2019 June exams, with subject-wise pass rates of 70%-93% in the December 2019/January 2020 MBBS exams (e.g. Community Medicine 93%, ENT 90%, Pathology 81%). No internship stipend figure is published by the college, and the NMC's consolidated stipend list could not be retrieved - the stipend is a cited absence here, not a guess.
What are the hostel facilities and fees at JJM Medical College Davangere?
Three published hostels: the Kavery Women's Hostel (138 rooms, postgraduates), the JJMMC International Hostel for boys and girls (96 girls' rooms, 88 boys' double rooms, AC rooms, Wi-Fi, gym, canteen) and the JJMMC Boys' Hostel (239 UG double rooms, 57 intern singles, 180 PG singles). The NMC disclosure totals 567 men's rooms (650 students) and 620 women's rooms (519 students). No hostel or mess fee is published anywhere official - confirm charges with the college at admission.
Is JJM Medical College the same as SSIMS Davangere?
No. JJM Medical College (JJMMC, NMC code KA/027/P/3, est 1965, KEA code M061) and S S Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre (SSIMS) are two separate medical colleges in Davangere with separate NMC registrations, seats, fees and cutoffs. The DM/MCh super-speciality seats in the NMC Davangere records belong to SSIMS, not JJM (JJM's own NMC disclosure states DM/MCh: nil, and JJM has no row in the NMC super-speciality seat matrix). Note: 'SS General Hospital' on KR Road is an attached teaching hospital of JJM - the similar name does not mean the colleges are one.
Is JJM Medical College Davangere safe - are there anti-ragging and harassment committees?
Yes. The college publishes an Anti-Ragging Committee page, a Sexual Harassment Committee (the POSH-mandated internal complaints body) and an Institutional Ethics Committee on its site, and its NMC pro-forma records CCTV cameras installed per the NMC advisory. The national anti-ragging framework (the UGC portal antiragging.in) applies in addition.
