COMEDK UGET 2026 — Application, Exam, Counselling Complete Guide

·

COMEDK UGET (Consortium of Medical, Engineering, and Dental Colleges of Karnataka — Undergraduate Entrance Test) is the second-largest engineering entrance exam in Karnataka after KCET, used by approximately 150 private engineering colleges in the state for admission to ~50% of their seats.

Application Window COMEDK 2026 application form typically opens in early February 2026 and closes in mid-April. The application fee is ₹1,800 for general category and ₹2,000 for combined COMEDK + Uni-GAUGE registration. Late application with additional fee is available for ~7 days after the regular window.

Exam Pattern - 180 questions total: 60 Physics + 60 Chemistry + 60 Mathematics - 3 hours duration - Computer-based test (CBT) at centres across India - Marking: +1 for correct, 0 for unattempted, -0 for incorrect (no negative marking — different from JEE Main) - Conducted in May 2026 (typically mid-May)

Score Validity COMEDK 2026 scores are valid only for academic year 2026-27 admissions. Re-examination required for subsequent years.

Counselling Process COMEDK conducts a centralised counselling separately from KEA. After scorecard release (early June), candidates register for counselling, pay registration fee, complete document verification, and participate in two rounds of choice filling and seat allotment.

Top COMEDK Colleges in Karnataka RVCE (RV College of Engineering), BMS College of Engineering, MSRIT, PES University, RNSIT, DSCE, BMSIT, BNMIT, NMAM Nitte, NHCE, JSS Academy, Acharya Institute, Presidency University, Christ University, Alliance, Reva, RV University.

Fee Structure for COMEDK Seats Tuition fees for COMEDK quota at top private colleges range from ₹3L to ₹6L per year. RVCE COMEDK fees are approximately ₹3.5L per year for in-demand branches. Mid-tier colleges typically charge ₹2L–₹4L per year through COMEDK quota.

Difference from KCET KCET is for Karnataka domicile candidates only and provides government quota seats with the lowest fees (~₹1L per year). COMEDK is open to all candidates pan-India and covers private college seats at moderate fees. COMEDK does not have category-based reservation (no SC/ST/OBC reservation) — purely merit-based for general category seats.

Eligibility - 12th passed with PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) - Minimum 45% aggregate (40% for SC/ST/OBC) in PCM - 17 years of age by December 31 of admission year

Tip for Aspirants COMEDK is significantly easier than JEE Main in difficulty. Karnataka domicile candidates should appear for both KCET (state quota — cheapest fees) and COMEDK (private quota — backup). Non-Karnataka candidates targeting Karnataka private engineering should focus on COMEDK and management quota.
