Engineering Counselling Start Dates 2026: KCET, COMEDK, JoSAA and CSAB — What Is Announced and What Is Not

Calendar timeline of engineering counselling start dates 2026 showing JoSAA, COMEDK and KCET milestones from June to August

·

Engineering counselling for 2026 has already started on two of the three major routes: JoSAA 2026 opened registration on 2 June and locks choices on 11 June at 5 PM, while COMEDK UGET 2026 registration ran from 30 May to an extended deadline of 10 June, 2 PM. KCET (KEA) counselling dates are not yet announced — results came on 6 June 2026, and on the 2025 pattern, option entry should open in July with Round 1 around early August. Every date here is taken from official JoSAA, COMEDK, KEA and CSAB notifications, checked on 10 June 2026.

Engineering counselling for 2026 has already started on two of the three big routes. JoSAA 2026 registration and choice filling close on Thursday, 11 June 2026 at 5 PM IST, with the Round 1 seat allotment on 13 June. COMEDK UGET 2026 counselling registration opened on 30 May and the extended last date is 10 June 2026, 2 PM, while KCET (KEA) counselling dates are not yet announced — results came on 6 June 2026, and on the 2025 pattern, option entry should open in July.

Three different bodies run three independent counselling processes: JoSAA (IITs, NITs, IIITs and other centrally funded institutes), COMEDK (private colleges across Karnataka) and KEA's KCET counselling for Karnataka seats. Every date below comes from an official notification or portal, re-checked on 10 June 2026. Where a 2026 date is not yet announced, we say so plainly and give the 2025 pattern, clearly labelled as prior-year reference.

JoSAA 2026: choices lock on 11 June, Round 1 on 13 June

JoSAA 2026 is the joint seat allocation for 138 institutes — 23 IITs, IISc Bengaluru, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs and 56 other GFTIs — set up by the Ministry of Education. It runs off JEE (Main) 2026 ranks (declared 20 April) and the JEE (Advanced) 2026 result (1 June).

Registration and choice filling opened on 2 June at 5 PM. Two mock allocations help you judge your choices: Mock 1 was displayed on 8 June, and Mock 2 is displayed today, 10 June, at 1 PM. Everything — choice filling, pre-payment of the seat-acceptance fee and pre-upload of documents — ends tomorrow, 11 June 2026 at 5 PM, after which choices are auto-locked. There is no extension built into the published schedule, so do not leave locking for the last hour.

All reporting in JoSAA 2026 is online: after each allotment you accept the seat by paying the seat-acceptance fee and uploading documents on the portal, not by visiting a reporting centre.

COMEDK UGET 2026: registration extended to 10 June, rounds expected from July

COMEDK conducted UGET 2026 on 9 May and announced results on 29 May 2026, issuing the counselling-start notification the same day. Registration with document upload opened on 30 May, with a non-refundable registration fee of ₹2,000 (per the official Counselling Process Document 2026, v1.0, notified 30 May 2026). The last date was originally 8 June, 2 PM, and has been extended to 10 June 2026, 2 PM — that extension came after our 5 June report on COMEDK round-1 registration, which otherwise still holds.

COMEDK says every candidate's documents will be verified by 30 June 2026, with the status visible in the document-upload tab. Counselling then runs in four rounds plus a mock round before Round 1 — but the round dates are not yet announced, because COMEDK ties them to the schedule to be announced by AICTE/COA/VTU. July 2026 remains the reasonable expectation. Eligibility, per the 29 May notification: a pass in 2nd PUC/12th with English, and a minimum 45% aggregate in physics, chemistry and mathematics plus one of chemistry/biotechnology/biology/electronics/computer science (40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates of Karnataka only). Supplementary-exam candidates of 2026 also had to register in this same window and can upload passed marks sheets before Round 3.

On fees: COMEDK's official notification caps tuition for 2026-27 at ₹3,02,000 (Slab 1) and ₹2,15,000 (Slab 2), with "other fees" capped at ₹20,000 — tuition and other fees are collected by COMEDK itself during counselling. These are counselling-level upper limits from the official notification, not any individual college's fee.

KCET 2026 counselling: not yet announced — here is the honest picture

KEA held the main UGCET-2026 papers on 23 and 24 April 2026 (the Kannada language test was on 22 April) and declared results on 6 June 2026. The draft engineering seat matrix and its notification were published on 2 June 2026. But as of 10 June 2026, there is no counselling notification — no registration, document verification, option entry or round dates — on KEA's UGCET-2026 page or homepage. We checked every published notice rather than guessing.

For planning, the 2025 sequence is the best guide, and it is exactly that — a prior-year reference, not an announcement. While you wait, this is a good window to shortlist colleges: see our ranked guide to the best engineering colleges in Bangalore or compare colleges side by side.

After JoSAA: CSAB Special and DASA rounds (28 July – 18 August)

Seats left vacant in the NIT+ system (NITs, IIITs and GFTIs — not IITs) after JoSAA's five rounds are filled through CSAB Special Rounds on csab.nic.in. Two things trip families up every year: you must register afresh for CSAB even if you registered for JoSAA, and CSAB-Special 2026 has only two rounds.

Keep all three options live — and what to do this week

KCET, COMEDK and JoSAA are independent processes with separate portals, fees and calendars, and nothing stops a Karnataka aspirant from riding all three. This week's priorities: JoSAA candidates must finalise and lock choices before 11 June, 5 PM; COMEDK registrants should watch their document-verification status (complete by 30 June); KCET rankers should keep documents ready and check KEA's site every few days, since the counselling notification can drop any time. We will update this page as KEA and COMEDK announce dates — our news section tracks each official notification as it lands.
