FAQ
VKIT FAQs
Is Vivekananda Institute of Technology Bangalore same as VIT Vellore or VIT AP?
No. VKIT/VIT Bangalore is an entirely separate institution — a private engineering college located at Gudimavu, Kumbalgodu, on Bangalore-Mysore Road 560074, affiliated to VTU Belagavi and founded in 1997 by Janatha Education Society (JES). It is not part of the VIT University group (Vellore, AP, Bhopal or Chennai). Always use KEA code 087 and COMEDK code E149 when selecting this college — these codes are unique to VKIT Bangalore.
When was VKIT Bangalore established and who runs it?
VKIT was established in 1997 by Janatha Education Society (JES), a non-profit trust registered in 1972 by 12 educationists and philanthropists. It was founded in the society's silver jubilee year as JES's flagship technical institution. JES runs 13+ institutions serving over 7,000 students and is currently led by President H.C. Balakrishna. The college is affiliated to VTU Belagavi and AICTE-approved.
What is the NAAC and NIRF status of VKIT Bangalore?
As of 2025-26, VKIT has IQAC established and maintains NAAC-related disclosures, but no publicly disclosed NAAC grade/CGPA validity. The college participates in NIRF Engineering (Institute ID IR-E-C-1342) — data has been submitted to NIRF 2024 and 2025 — but the college is unranked (below the published band threshold).
Which B.E. branches does VKIT Bangalore offer in 2025-26?
VKIT offers six B.E. programmes: Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication, Information Science & Engineering, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering. Total first-year sanctioned intake is around 360 seats. AI&ML was expanded to 90 seats and ISE to 120 seats from AY 2024-25. VKIT does not currently offer standalone EEE or specialised CSE-Cyber Security/Data Science branches — those are available at other VTU colleges.
What is the admission process for B.E. at VKIT Bangalore?
Admission is through five routes: (1) KCET — Karnataka domicile via KEA, use VKIT code 087 in option entry; (2) COMEDK UGET — national merit, use VKIT code E149; (3) Management quota — direct application with 10+2 marksheet and fee DD; (4) NRI/Foreign — with passport and sponsor documents; (5) SNQ — low-fee supernumerary for eligible low-income Karnataka candidates. Lateral entry into 3rd semester via DCET for Diploma holders. Eligibility: 10+2/PUC with PCM and 45% aggregate (40% SC/ST/OBC).
What are the fees at VKIT Bangalore for 2025-26?
Annual fees align with the Karnataka Fee Regulatory Committee. KCET aided/government quota is approximately INR 1,13,205 (uniform). COMEDK is around INR 1,86,000 (uniform across all branches). Management quota is INR 2,75,000 for CS-family (CSE/AI&ML/ISE), INR 2,50,000 for ECE, and INR 2,00,000 for core Civil and Mechanical. Supernumerary Quota (SNQ) is around INR 30,610 annually. Hostel fees are separate, approximately INR 70,000-80,000 per year including mess.
Does VKIT Bangalore offer M.Tech, MBA or MCA programmes?
VKIT's official Programs Offered page does not list taught M.Tech, MBA or MCA programmes. The college operates primarily as a B.E. (UG) institution. For postgraduate research, VKIT is a VTU-recognized research centre in ECE, CSE, Mechanical, Mathematics and Chemistry offering Ph.D. and M.Sc. Engineering by Research programmes, though scholar numbers are very modest. Some aggregators mention M.Tech (CSE & Digital Communication) but this is not featured on the current college homepage — confirm directly with the College AndFees counsellor.
What are the placement statistics at VKIT Bangalore?
Per NIRF 2025 submission (FY 2023-24 official), 24 of ~154 eligible graduating UG students were placed, giving a ~12% placement rate, with median salary around INR 3.2 LPA and highest around INR 8 LPA. Prior years: FY 2022-23 saw 24 placed (~19% rate, median INR 4 LPA); FY 2021-22 saw 58 placed (~43% rate, median INR 2.5 LPA). Top recruiters include TCS, Wipro, Dell, HCL, Cognizant, IBM, Oracle, Accenture, Flipkart, Tata Motors. Placement performance is modest; candidates should prioritise individual skill-building alongside campus drives.

Sports include cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, kabaddi (outdoor) and badminton, chess, carrom (indoor). The college has dedicated Physical Education & Sports department, active NSS/NCC, IEEE student branches and hosts the annual cultural-technical fest VIBHIN.

Dr. K.M. Ravikumar is the Principal of VKIT Bangalore for AY 2025-26. The parent Janatha Education Society is led by President H.C. Balakrishna. The Principal's Desk communicates the college's emphasis on student-centric education, infrastructure upgrades, and industry readiness — with primary focus on affordable, accessible engineering education.
