Could you move to a different engineering branch?
Do not treat a later switch as guaranteed: read VTU change-of-branch rules. A move depends on the current VTU notice, your college's real vacancies and merit order.

FAQ
RGIT FAQs
Is RGIT Bangalore the same as RIT Kottayam or RGIT Mumbai?
No. Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, Bangalore (RGIT) is a private AICTE-approved engineering college established in 2001 under Sir M. Visvesvaraya Education Trust (RGC Group) and affiliated to VTU Belagavi. It sits at RGC Campus, Cholanagar, RT Nagar Post, Hebbal, Bangalore 560032. It is distinct from Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology Kottayam (a Kerala government college) and from MCT's Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology in Andheri, Mumbai. Cross-verify the name, affiliation, and Hebbal address on COMEDK and KEA portals before applying.
Where exactly is RGIT Bangalore located?
Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology is located in Bangalore (Bengaluru), Karnataka.
Which B.E. branches does RGIT offer?
KCET 2024 cutoff tables confirm six VTU branches: Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication, Electrical & Electronics, Civil, Mechanical, and Biomedical Engineering. Recent listings additionally reference CSE specialisations in AI & Machine Learning, Cyber Security, Data Science, IoT & Cyber Security, and AI, plus AIML and Information Science as separate branches, but these newer streams have not yet been independently verified in KCET or COMEDK seat-matrix tables. Confirm branch availability for your target admission year with the College AndFees counsellor before locking a preference.
What are the admission channels and codes for RGIT?
Admission runs through KCET (Karnataka state quota, college code E124), COMEDK UGET (private consortium, college code E101), and an institution-level Management/NRI quota that goes directly through the RGIT College AndFees counsellor. Baseline eligibility is PUC II / Class XII with Physics and Mathematics plus one of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, or a technical vocational subject, with 45 percent aggregate (40 percent for SC, ST, and other reserved categories).
What are the 2026-27 tuition fees at RGIT?
KCET-quota tuition is ₹1.13 lakh per year uniformly across all branches. COMEDK tuition ranges from ₹45,000 per year for Mechanical up to ₹1.86 lakh per year for Computer Science. Management-quota tuition 2026-27 ranges from ₹75,000 per year for Mechanical up to ₹2.25 lakh per year for Computer Science. Figures cover tuition only — hostel, mess, transport, and one-time deposits are billed separately and should be confirmed with the College AndFees counsellor.
Is RGIT Bangalore AICTE-approved and VTU-affiliated?
Yes. RGIT is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi. The AICTE permanent ID and VTU college code are not currently accessible in public dashboards because the official website rgit.ac.in is reported down for maintenance as of April 2026. Applicants who need these codes should request them from the admissions cell.
What are placement outcomes like at RGIT?
Third-party aggregators place the recent-cycle average around ₹4 lakh per annum with the highest package typically cited between ₹8 lakh and ₹16 lakh; the college does not publish an annual placement report, so these numbers should be treated as indicative. Recruiters seen consistently include Accenture, Capgemini, Cisco, Deloitte, HCL, HP, IBM, Infosys, TCS, Kotak Mahindra Bank, HDFC Bank, Mphasis, Concentrix, and Hinduja Global Services. Students aiming for tier-1 product companies should prepare off-campus in parallel.
Does RGIT have hostel and campus facilities?
Secondary sources describe a roughly 10-acre Cholanagar campus with a central library, engineering labs for each department, seminar and drawing halls, a cafeteria, and sports facilities including basketball, badminton, and volleyball courts with a gymnasium. On-campus boys and girls hostel arrangements exist with an off-campus facility nearby. Exact hostel capacity, fees, and mess charges are not publicly quantified and should be confirmed with the admissions cell.
Is RGIT ranked or accredited by NIRF, NBA, or NAAC?
Accreditation signals are modest. RGIT does not appear in the NIRF Engineering rankings for 2024 or 2025, and no NBA programme accreditations are documented in public sources.
When does RGIT admission open for 2026-27?
KCET notifications typically open in February or March with the paper in April or May and option-entry and seat-allotment rounds through June and July on the KEA portal (cetonline.karnataka.gov.in). COMEDK runs its UGET schedule in parallel on comedk.org. Management and NRI admissions open through the RGIT College AndFees counsellor once KCET and COMEDK rounds conclude. Because rgit.ac.in is currently reported down for maintenance, confirm current-year dates by calling or visiting the admissions cell at the Cholanagar campus.
