Pramukhswami Medical College, established in 1987 by the charitable trust Charutar Arogya Mandal, is a long-standing teaching college with a strong faculty-development pedigree. In December 2010 the then Medical Council of India recognised it as an MCI Regional Centre for faculty development — the college states the centre has been the top performer among all such centres in the country — and in February 2014 it was recognised as a Nodal Centre to run the Advanced Course in Medical Education. The college also records being the first education centre of FAIMER (Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research) in India, and the trust signed an academic MOU with the University of Massachusetts, Worcester campus, in July 2013.
