FAQ

NCET FAQs

What are the B.Tech tuition fees at NCET Bangalore for 2025-26?
B.Tech tuition at NCET is quota-linked: the KCET government quota works out to approximately Rs. 1.10-1.25 lakh per year, COMEDK quota to about Rs. 2.60-3.00 lakh per year, and the institutional Management / NRI quota to Rs. 3.00-5.00 lakh per year depending on branch. CSE specialisations sit at the top of each band; Civil and ECE are at the lower end. VTU and miscellaneous charges plus a one-time caution deposit are additional. NCET has not published a single public 2025-26 per-branch-per-quota fee table, so candidates should confirm the exact figure with the admissions office before paying.
How much do hostel and mess cost at NCET per year?
Hostel plus mess in the separate boys and girls residences on the 72-acre NCET campus typically costs around Rs. 1.20-1.35 lakh per year, covering room rent, a multi-cuisine dining hall, 24-hour security and housekeeping. AC and larger-occupancy rooms carry a small premium. A refundable caution deposit applies at the time of admission. NCET has not published a public 2024-25 or 2025-26 hostel tariff, so actual charges should be confirmed with the admissions office when a seat is allotted.
Does NCET offer scholarships or fee waivers for B.Tech students?
Yes. NCET offers merit-based tuition waivers for top rankers in KCET and COMEDK UGET and specific trust-funded waivers through the Nagarjuna Education Trust for deserving candidates. Karnataka Government post-matric scholarships apply for SC, ST, OBC and minority students as per their annual eligibility rules. AICTE Pragati (for girls) and Saksham (for specially-abled students) central scholarships are also channelled through the institute. Full scholarship slabs and application windows are published on the admissions portal at landing.ncet.co.in every year.
How do I get admission into B.Tech at NCET Bangalore for 2026?
B.Tech admission at NCET runs through three channels. For the Karnataka CET (KCET) government quota, appear for KCET 2026, register with KEA and participate in centralised counselling using NCET code E104. For the COMEDK private merit pool, appear for COMEDK UGET 2026, register with the Consortium and fill NCET code E084 in counselling. For the institutional Management / NRI quota, register directly on landing.ncet.co.in, pay the application fee, attend document verification with a token fee, and complete the student interview and final seat confirmation.
What is the minimum eligibility for B.Tech admission at NCET?
Eligibility is the standard AICTE / VTU norm. Candidates must pass class 12 with Physics and Mathematics compulsory, plus Chemistry or Biology or Biotechnology or Computer Science or Electronics as the third science subject, with a minimum 45 percent aggregate in PCM (40 percent for SC, ST and OBC-notified categories from Karnataka). A valid KCET, COMEDK UGET or JEE Main score is required for the respective admission channel. Karnataka-domicile candidates applying under the CET pool must also complete the 7-year study requirement specified by KEA.
Is NCET Bangalore autonomous and which university awards its degree?
Yes. NCET has been an autonomous institution since academic year 2015-16 under autonomy granted by Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi and the Government of Karnataka. Autonomy lets NCET design its own curriculum, examinations and internal assessment within the CBCS and outcome-based framework, but the B.E. degree is awarded by VTU — so graduates hold a VTU degree with NCET-designed coursework, which is the standard autonomous-college model across Karnataka.
Is NCET Bangalore NAAC accredited and NBA accredited?
Yes. NCET is accredited with an A+ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), with the latest certificate referenced on its approvals page. Multiple undergraduate programmes — Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication, Information Science, Civil and Mechanical — have been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) across cycles. Candidates should verify the current programme-wise NBA validity directly from the NBA portal for the exact branch and admission year they are applying for.
Which B.Tech branches does NCET offer and what is the intake?
NCET runs seven B.E. programmes through its School of Engineering: Computer Science and Engineering, CSE (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning), CSE (Data Science), CSE (Cyber Security), Information Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Civil Engineering. Total undergraduate engineering intake is around 720 seats. Per-branch sanctioned intake for 2025-26 is not published on the public website — candidates can verify branch-wise seat numbers from the AICTE Extension of Approval (EOA) letter linked on the approvals page.
