Gopalan College of Engineering and Management — Fees, Courses & Admission

Q: When was Gopalan College of Engineering and Management (GCEM) established and who runs it?

GCEM was established in 2010 by the Gopalan Foundation, the educational trust of the Gopalan Group founded in 1984 by architect Mr. C. Gopalan. It is a private self-financing engineering college under VTU, Belagavi, located in the Hoodi/Whitefield IT corridor of Bangalore East. The Chairman is Mr. C. Gopalan and the Principal for 2025-26 is Dr. Arun Vikas Singh (B.E., M.Tech., Ph.D.). The institution operates out of a 7.17-acre campus directly behind SAP Labs on ITPL Road.

Q: What accreditations and approvals does GCEM hold?

GCEM is AICTE-approved with Permanent ID 1-4330741 and holds a valid Extension of Approval 2025-26 granted on 05-April-2025. It is permanently affiliated to VTU Belagavi as a non-autonomous college. The Aeronautical Engineering programme has submitted its NBA Self-Assessment Report.

Q: Where exactly is GCEM located and what is the PIN code?

Gopalan College of Engineering and Management is located in Whitefield (Hoodi), Karnataka.

Q: What B.E. branches and intakes does GCEM offer for 2025-26?

Per the AICTE EoA 2025-26, GCEM offers B.E. programmes in Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), CSE in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AIML), CSE in Data Science (DS), Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), Information Science & Engineering (ISE) and Aeronautical Engineering, totalling approximately 540-600 sanctioned UG seats. Mechanical Engineering is approved but has zero intake for 2025-26; there are no current approvals for EEE, Civil, CSBS or IoT. The focus is deliberately weighted toward high-demand CSE specialisations and Aeronautical.

Q: How do I get admission to GCEM and what are the codes?

GCEM admits B.E. students through KEA KCET under college code E201 and COMEDK UGET under code E053. A direct management / institutional admission route is referenced by the College AndFees counsellor, but GCEM does not publish a formal KEA / COMEDK / management percentage split on its checked official pages. The AICTE EoA 2025-26 records NRI approval status as No for all GCEM UG programmes. Use the official admissions desk for route availability, and do not treat any unsourced quota split as a published college fee schedule.

Q: What are GCEM's fees for 2025-26 by quota?

For 2025-26, GCEM has a published COMEDK fee of ₹2,20,000 per year across active B.E. branches (₹2,00,000 tuition + ₹20,000 college-level fee). A current official per-branch management-quota fee table was not found in the CSV or on verified GCEM official pages, so College AndFees does not publish a management-quota rupee amount for GCEM. The AICTE EoA 2025-26 records NRI approval status as No. Hostel, transport, exam and one-time admission charges are separate where applicable.

Q: How are placements at GCEM?

Placements 2023-24 at GCEM delivered an average package of Rs 3.5-4 LPA, a median of Rs 3.5 LPA and a highest package in the Rs 7.5-15 LPA range (varies by source and off-campus highlights), with a placement rate of 52-77% of eligible students, driven primarily by CSE, CSE-AIML and CSE-DS. Top recruiters include Accenture, Wipro, Infosys, Capgemini, Mindtree/LTIMindtree, Cognizant, HCL, L&T Infotech, Zoho, Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, Test Yantra and Aviotron Aerospace. The Whitefield location gives direct corridor access to 500+ MNCs for internships and pre-placement drives.

Q: Does GCEM offer any PG programmes (M.Tech, MBA or MCA)?

As per the current AICTE EoA 2025-26, GCEM does NOT have any approved PG programmes - M.Tech, MBA and MCA intakes are all listed as zero. The institution is currently UG-focused and has consciously concentrated its faculty, labs and resources on undergraduate B.E. engineering specialisations, particularly CSE-AIML, CSE-DS and Aeronautical. Research engagement happens through the Gopalan Research, Innovation and Training Centre (GRIT) and five VTU-recognised research centres that support capstone projects and industry-sponsored work, though no formal PG seat matrix is published for 2025-26.

Q: What facilities does the GCEM campus have?

The 7.17-acre GCEM campus features air-conditioned smart classrooms with 100 Mbps leased-line internet and campus-wide Wi-Fi, a Libsoft-automated library with 12,513 volumes plus SC/ST book bank (member of DELNET, VTU e-consortium and NPTEL repository), and state-of-the-art computer, aeronautical and electronics labs. The on-campus hostel (opposite the engineering block) accommodates approximately 500 students across separate boys and girls wings. Sports infrastructure covers a football ground, synthetic badminton courts, cricket/basketball/volleyball grounds, tennis courts and an athletics track, plus indoor games (table tennis, chess, carom). Campus also has auditoriums, amphitheatre, media centre, incubation centre, Skill Academy, canteen, health centre and transport facility.

Q: What is the difference between GCEM and Gopalan College of Engineering (GCE)?

The official full name of this institution is Gopalan College of Engineering and Management (GCEM), located at Hoodi/Whitefield, Bangalore 560048 under the Gopalan Foundation. Shortened references like "Gopalan Engineering College" or the older gopalanengineeringcollege.com domain point to the same institution - not a separately operating college. Third-party aggregators sometimes list it as "GCE" which creates confusion; verification against AICTE (Permanent ID 1-4330741), VTU and COMEDK (E053) records confirms GCEM is the single unified engineering college under the Gopalan Group and is distinct from the Group's other educational verticals (schools, PU/commerce, architecture institute).
