FAQ

GITAM Bengaluru FAQs

What are the hostel and mess charges at GITAM Bengaluru?
GITAM Off Campus Bengaluru runs on-campus gender-segregated hostels (Vinay Sadan for boys and Kokila Sadan for girls along with newer blocks) with 2, 3 and 4 sharing options, high-speed Wi-Fi, dining halls on fixed timings, pay-per-use laundry, 24x7 security and indoor games. Indicative hostel-plus-mess charges for 2024-25 ranged between approximately 1.20 lakh rupees per year for triple sharing non-AC and 1.35 lakh rupees per year for double sharing with standard board; AC upgrades cost extra. The university does not publish a consolidated Bengaluru-specific hostel tariff on its public pages — applicants should confirm the latest rate with admissions at the time of seat acceptance.
Is GITAM Bengaluru UGC-recognised and NAAC-accredited?
Yes. GITAM is a Category-I Deemed-to-be University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 — the parent Visakhapatnam campus received Deemed status in 2007 and the Bengaluru off-campus was notified as an additional off-campus in 2012. NBA accreditation for select engineering programmes across GITAM is in process.
What B.Tech branches are offered at GITAM Bengaluru?
The GITAM School of Technology at Bengaluru offers four-year B.Tech programmes across Computer Science and Engineering and four specialised CSE tracks — Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Data Science, Cyber Security and a dedicated VLSI Design track — plus Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. CSE and its AI-family specialisations carry the largest intake, while ECE, Electrical & Computer Engineering and Mechanical run with smaller cohorts. Per-branch sanctioned intakes for 2025-26 are listed in the AICTE Mandatory Disclosure on iqac.gitam.edu — applicants should refer there for the authoritative seat count. All branches follow a flexible credit-based curriculum with mandatory industrial internship and a final-year capstone project.
How are placements and internships handled at GITAM Bengaluru?
Placements are coordinated centrally through the GITAM Career Guidance Centre, which serves all three campuses. Campus-wide indicative metrics reported in GITAM disclosures show highest packages around 15 to 46 lakh rupees per annum depending on the year and branch, with a median package in the 4.8 to 5.1 lakh rupees per annum range and a placement rate above 90 percent for eligible students. Bengaluru-campus-only year-wise median and average are not broken out separately on public pages, so applicants should read campus-wide metrics with that caveat. Top recruiters across GITAM campuses include Amazon, Microsoft, TCS, Cognizant, Deloitte, Bosch, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture and Genpact. Mandatory eight-week summer internships from Semester IV onward are supported by an active industry-interface cell.
What is the campus infrastructure like at GITAM Bengaluru?
The 45-acre Bengaluru campus sits on NH-207 at Nagadenahalli in Doddaballapur Taluk, within 15 kilometres of Kempegowda International Airport. Facilities include academic blocks with smart classrooms, discipline-specific laboratories for CSE, AI, Data Science, Cyber Security, VLSI, ECE and Mechanical Engineering, a Centre of Excellence and makerspace, a Knowledge Resource Centre with approximately 22,485 print volumes and subscriptions to EBSCO, J-Gate, IEEE and other digital databases, gender-segregated residential hostels (Vinay Sadan, Kokila Sadan and newer blocks), a professional cricket ground, basketball and volleyball courts, a gymnasium, a health centre, 24x7 Wi-Fi backbone, a back-up power supply and CCTV-monitored campus security. Campus bus service connects the campus to major Bengaluru city points.
