FAQ

Dr. HNNCE FAQs

When was Dr. H.N. National College of Engineering established and who runs it?
DRHN NCE was established in 2024 in Jayanagar 7th Block, Bengaluru, under the National Education Society of Karnataka (NES) — a more than century-old educational trust that also runs National College Jayanagar, National College Basavanagudi and an extensive pre-university and degree college ecosystem. The college is named after Dr. H. Narasimhaiah, an eminent physicist, rationalist, educator and former Vice-Chancellor of Bangalore University who served as President of NES from 1977 to 2005.
Why is the college named after Dr. H. Narasimhaiah?
Dr. H. Narasimhaiah (popularly 'Dr. HN') was one of independent India's most influential educators and scientists. As President of the National Education Society of Karnataka from 1977 to 2005 he steered the society through an era of rapid expansion, and as Vice-Chancellor of Bangalore University he championed rationalist inquiry, scientific temper and accessible higher education. The new engineering college carries his name to signal continuity with that tradition of scientific temperament, academic rigour and public-spirited education for which NES is known.
Where is the campus located and how well-connected is Jayanagar 7th Block?
The campus is at 36B Cross, Jayanagar 7th Block, Bengaluru 560070, on the south-central stretch of Bengaluru that is well served by the Bengaluru Metro Green Line, BMTC bus services and major arterial roads. The location is within easy commuting range of Koramangala, HSR Layout, Bannerghatta Road and the Electronic City technology corridor, giving students frictionless access to IT companies, startups, research labs and industry events. The Jayanagar ecosystem is also home to National College Jayanagar and multiple NES affiliated institutions.
Which university is DRHN NCE affiliated to and what approvals does it hold?
The college is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. , MBA and MCA degrees are awarded by VTU. The institution is also listed on the official COMEDK Karnataka Professional Colleges Foundation portal from its inaugural intake year, which enables participation in the COMEDK UGET seat-allocation process alongside KCET.
What B.E. branches are offered at DRHN NCE?
DRHN NCE offers four Bachelor of Engineering programmes under VTU: Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), Information Science & Engineering (ISE), Artificial Intelligence & Data Science (AI&DS), and Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE). The branch mix is deliberately focused on software, data and electronics skills that the Bengaluru industry actively recruits for, with the AI&DS programme structured around the latest VTU outcome-based curriculum and industry-aligned electives in machine learning, data engineering and applied AI.
Does the college offer any postgraduate programmes?
Yes. Beyond the four-year B.E. degrees, DRHN NCE runs a two-year Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a two-year Master of Computer Applications (MCA), both affiliated to VTU. The MBA is aimed at graduates seeking general management, marketing, finance, human resources and operations specialisations, while the MCA offers advanced computing, application development and software engineering for graduates with a mathematics background, giving engineering undergraduates a vertical progression path on the same campus.
How does a Karnataka student apply for B.E. admission at DRHN NCE?
Karnataka-domicile students apply through the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). Candidates must have passed 10+2 / Pre-University with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Computer Science or Electronics, and a minimum aggregate of 45% (40% for SC/ST/OBC). After KCET results, rank-holders register on the KEA portal, participate in online counselling and option entry, and are allotted seats rank-wise; DRHN NCE branches can be chosen among the preferences.
What options exist beyond KCET for B.E. admission?
Students outside the KCET pool can apply through the COMEDK UGET administered by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka, which is open to candidates across India. The college is listed on the official COMEDK Karnataka Professional Colleges Foundation portal. DRHN NCE also operates a Management Quota that is filled directly by the institution subject to AICTE/VTU eligibility norms, and three-year diploma holders can enter the second year of B.E. through the Karnataka Diploma CET lateral-entry route.
How are MBA and MCA admissions organised?
MBA and MCA admissions are routed through the Karnataka Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET) conducted by KEA. For MBA, graduates from any recognised discipline with at least 50% aggregate (45% for reserved categories) are eligible; for MCA, bachelor's degree holders with mathematics at 10+2 or degree level meet the prescribed norms. PGCET rank-holders participate in centralised online counselling run by KEA for seat allotment. Management-quota MBA and MCA seats are filled directly by the college under VTU and AICTE norms each admission cycle.
How should I contact DRHN NCE and how do I verify fees and seat availability?
The official website is https://drhnnce.org.in, and the campus is at 36B Cross, Jayanagar 7th Block, Bengaluru 560070. Because DRHN NCE is a newly established college (2024), tuition fees, branch-wise sanctioned intakes and cut-off ranks evolve every admission cycle under KEA and COMEDK notifications, so prospective students should cross-verify the current prospectus, the KEA schedule and the COMEDK Karnataka Professional Colleges Foundation portal before finalising any application or fee payment decisions.
