Could you move to a different engineering branch?
Do not treat a later switch as guaranteed: read VTU change-of-branch rules. A move depends on the current VTU notice, your college's real vacancies and merit order.

FAQ
CEC FAQs
Is City Engineering College (CEC) Bengaluru NAAC and AICTE accredited?
Yes. City Engineering College is approved by AICTE, New Delhi and affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi. CEC is currently not NBA-accredited.
What are the KCET, COMEDK and PGCET codes for City Engineering College?
City Engineering College participates in every major Karnataka counselling. The KCET (UG B.E.) code for CEC is E109, allotted through KEA on kea.kar.nic.in. The COMEDK UGET code is E037 — candidates should cross-check the final code on the COMEDK 2026 seat matrix at comedk.org. M.Tech, MBA and MCA admissions use Karnataka PGCET counselling, and lateral-entry diploma candidates use Karnataka DCET under the same institution code.
What is the 2025-26 KCET quota BE fee at City Engineering College?
Under the Karnataka Government fee regulation, the 2025-26 KCET (Government/CET) quota BE tuition at City Engineering College is ₹1,13,205 per year — applied uniformly across CSE, ISE, AI&ML, ECE, Mechanical, Civil and CSE (IoT & Cyber Security with Blockchain). University, skill-development, exam and caution-deposit charges are billed on top of this base tuition and are revised annually by VTU and the college.
What is the 2026-27 Management/COMEDK quota BE fee structure at CEC?
For the 2026-27 intake, CEC's Management/COMEDK BE tuition is tiered by branch. Computer Science (CSE), AI & Machine Learning, CSE (IoT & Cyber Security including Blockchain) and ISE are at ₹2,00,000 per year; Electronics & Communication (ECE) is at ₹1,50,000 per year; and Mechanical and Civil are at ₹1,00,000 per year. University and one-time charges are additional and separate hostel/mess fees apply.
How are placements at City Engineering College Bengaluru?
CEC runs a dedicated Training & Placement Cell. In the 2023 placement cycle, the highest package stood at ₹14.40 LPA (Morris Garages / MG Motors) with an average of around ₹4.00 LPA. Consistent recruiters include Amazon, Accenture, Oracle, Infosys, Wipro, Dell, IBM, Bosch, Finastra, Moog India and Mphasis, and the cell runs skill bootcamps, aptitude training and mock interviews to prepare students for service-sector and core roles.
Is City Engineering College ranked in NIRF or other national rankings?
CEC competes in the affordable mid-tier VTU private category, and its key strengths are location, emerging-tech branches and approachable tuition rather than ranking-driven brand visibility.
Does CEC offer hostel accommodation for outstation students?
Yes. City Engineering College provides separate on-campus boys' and girls' hostels with mess facilities, Wi-Fi, and 24x7 security. The hostels are within the 12-acre campus footprint and are particularly convenient for students coming in from outside Bengaluru. Hostel-mess charges are billed annually and revised by the management; candidates should request the latest hostel tariff sheet at the time of counselling reporting.
What are the distinctive UG branches at City Engineering College?
CEC's most distinctive UG programme is CSE (IoT & Cyber Security including Blockchain Technology) — a specialised B.E. stream that integrates Internet of Things, cybersecurity and blockchain fundamentals into a single VTU curriculum. The college also offers classical CSE, Information Science & Engineering, AI & Machine Learning, Electronics & Communication, Mechanical, and Civil Engineering, giving students a healthy mix of legacy core and future-tech options.
What PG and research programmes are available at CEC?
At the postgraduate level, CEC offers an M.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering (admission via GATE/Karnataka PGCET), a two-year MBA and a two-year MCA (both through Karnataka PGCET counselling). The Department of Computer Science & Engineering is a VTU-recognised Research Centre, enabling Ph.D. and M.Sc. (Engineering by Research) pathways under approved research supervisors within the department.
What research facilities and industry MoUs does CEC have?
CEC highlights a network of 32+ active industry MoUs spanning software services, product engineering, skilling and core engineering partners. These MoUs translate into internships, guest lectures, industry-certified short courses and live capstone projects. Within campus, the VTU-recognised CSE Research Centre anchors Ph.D. activity, while departmental labs in AI, IoT, electronics, mechanical and civil support student projects and hackathon participation.
