FAQ

GSSSIETW FAQs

When was GSSSIETW Mysuru established and who runs it?
GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women (GSSSIETW) was established in 2003 by late Prof. B. S. Pandit as the first exclusive women's engineering college in the state of Karnataka. It is run by Geetha Shishu Shikshana Sangha (GSSS), Mysuru — a registered educational society formalised in 1976 by Prof. Pandit as the organisational home for the 1948-49 schools started by Smt. Rukmini Bai Pandit for the children of Mysore. GSSSIETW is set up as a lasting tribute to her lifelong work in educating and empowering the girl child.
Where is GSSSIETW located and what is the campus like?
GSSSIETW operates from a 15-acre campus at KRS Road, Metagalli, Mysuru 570016, Karnataka. The Krishna Raja Sagar road corridor gives the campus direct connectivity to central Mysuru, the Hebbal Industrial Area and the wider Bengaluru-Mysuru technology belt. The campus houses departmental blocks, laboratories across CSE, ECE, ISE, EEE and AI&ML, a central library, seminar halls, an active Training and Placement Department, sports and cultural amenities, and three hostel blocks that accommodate around four hundred students under resident wardens.
Is GSSSIETW affiliated to VTU, and what are its accreditations?
Yes. GSSSIETW is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. E. programmes in Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Information Science and Electrical and Electronics Engineering carry National Board of Accreditation (NBA) accreditation. These credentials position GSSSIETW in the top bracket of VTU-affiliated women's engineering colleges in Karnataka.
What B.E. and PG programmes does GSSSIETW offer?
At the undergraduate level GSSSIETW offers five B.E. branches — Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. At the postgraduate level the college offers M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, M.Tech in Digital Communication and Networking (DCN), and a Master of Business Administration (MBA). Research scholars are also admitted to PhD programmes across departments under VTU research regulations.
How do I apply for B.E. admission at GSSSIETW?
Admission to the B.E. programmes is made through three main routes. Karnataka-state candidates apply via the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) conducted by the KEA. All-India private-quota merit candidates apply through the COMEDK Under Graduate Entrance Test (UGET), on which GSSSIETW is explicitly listed as a participating women's engineering college. Management and NRI seats are admitted under AICTE and institutional norms. Lateral entry to the second year of B.E. is through the Karnataka Diploma CET (DCET) for qualifying diploma holders.
What is the eligibility for B.E. at GSSSIETW?
Candidates must be women with a 10+2 pass, with Physics and Mathematics compulsory and Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Computer Science or Electronics as the third subject. A minimum 45 percent aggregate is required (40 percent for Karnataka reserved categories). For lateral entry to the second year of B.E., candidates must hold a Karnataka state diploma in an allied engineering branch and qualify in DCET. PG admissions follow separate norms: M.Tech candidates through GATE and PGCET rank lists, MBA through PGCET or other valid national-level tests as per Karnataka rules.
What is the placement record at GSSSIETW?
GSSSIETW runs a full-fledged Training and Placement Department — notably the first of its kind at an exclusive women's engineering college in Karnataka. Recent placement bands have seen highest packages in the order of around 19 LPA with an average close to 4 LPA, with most offers in the 3-6 LPA range across IT, ITES, core engineering and management profiles. Repeat recruiters from the Mysuru IT corridor and the Bengaluru ecosystem visit the campus each placement cycle, and the college supplements hiring drives with aptitude, soft-skills and domain training.
What hostel and welfare facilities are available for students?
The college has three dedicated hostel blocks on the Metagalli campus that together accommodate around four hundred women students, each block run by a resident warden who supervises day-to-day discipline, safety and welfare. The GSSS management provides Vidhya Siri scholarships for about forty students per year, and state-portal scholarships ranging between Rs 10,000 and Rs 72,000 are routinely availed by COMEDK-admitted candidates. Transport, library, laboratory, medical and counselling services round out the on-campus welfare and academic support system for residents and day scholars alike.
