FAQ
JSS Science & Technology University FAQs
Is JSSSTU a deemed-to-be university, and how is it different from JSS AHER, SJCE, or JSSATE?
No — JSSSTU (JSS Science and Technology University) is NOT a deemed-to-be university, despite how many third-party aggregators label it. It is a state private university established under the Karnataka legislature's JSS Science and Technology University Act No. 43 of 2013 and notified by the Government of Karnataka on 16 January 2016. The deemed-to-be university in the JSS family is JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSS AHER), a separate medical/health-sciences institution in Mysuru. Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE, est. 1963) is the constituent engineering college housed inside JSSSTU — not an earlier name for the university. JSS Academy of Technical Education (JSSATE) at Bengaluru and Noida, JSS Medical College, JSS Dental, JSS Pharmacy Ooty, and JSS Polytechnic are separate JSSMVP or JSS AHER institutions and are not part of JSSSTU.
Where exactly is JSSSTU located?
JSS Science & Technology University is located in Mysore, Karnataka.
Is JSSSTU UGC-, AICTE-, NAAC- and NBA-approved?
JSSSTU is UGC-recognised as a Section 2(f) state private university by virtue of the state act that established it, is AICTE-approved, and is listed under NIRF institute code IR-E-C-1412.
What are placement outcomes like at JSSSTU?
Per JSSSTU's own NIRF 2025 submission, the 2023-24 B.E. outgoing batch had 959 students graduating in minimum stipulated time with 828 placed — a placement rate of roughly 86 percent, which is strong for a state private engineering university outside the NIRF top-100. Recruiters across recent cycles include TCS, Infosys, Wipro, HCL, Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, Microsoft, Amazon, IBM, Cisco, Oracle, SAP, Bosch, Tata Elxsi, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, Volvo, Honeywell, L&T, Deloitte, Flipkart, and Hitachi Energy — a recruiter mix that covers IT services, product, and core engineering.
Does JSSSTU have hostel and campus facilities?
Yes — the 102-acre Manasagangothri campus is a full-residential academic environment with separate boys' and girls' hostels on campus (boys' capacity reportedly 550+; two girls' blocks with ~100 and ~150 capacity), the Central Knowledge Resource Centre library, auditoriums, an on-campus medical centre, bank and ATM, cafeterias (Maylari, Yampa), and a Department of Physical Education with courts for football, basketball, volleyball, throwball, kabaddi, tennis, table tennis, plus a gymnasium and yoga centre. Wi-Fi is available across campus.
