After first year
Could you move to a different engineering branch?
Do not treat a later switch as guaranteed: read changing branch after 1st year. A move depends on the current VTU notice, your college's real vacancies and merit order.

FAQ
GITW FAQs
When was Ghousia Institute of Technology for Women (GITW) established and who runs it?
GITW was established in 2023 in south Bengaluru under the Ghousia educational group — the same organisation that runs the well-established co-ed Ghousia College of Engineering at Ramanagaram, which has been operating since 1980. GITW was conceived specifically to expand access to professional engineering education for women from Karnataka's minority communities and the broader female student population in the Bengaluru metropolitan region. The college is recognised as a women's minority engineering institution by the Government of Karnataka.
Is GITW the same as Ghousia College of Engineering at Ramanagaram?
No. GITW is a distinct institution from Ghousia College of Engineering (GCE) at Ramanagaram. GCE Ramanagaram is a co-educational engineering college established in 1980 and located about 50 km west of Bengaluru on the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway, while GITW is a women-only engineering college established in 2023 in south Bengaluru city. The two colleges are sister institutions under the same Ghousia educational group and share operational experience and management linkages, but each is a separate VTU-affiliated and AICTE-approved degree-granting institution.
Where is the GITW campus located?
Ghousia Institute of Technology for Women (GITW) is located at DRC Post, Dairy Circle, Hosur Road, Bengaluru, Karnataka-560029, India.
Which university is GITW affiliated to and what approvals does it hold?
GITW is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. It is also recognised by the Government of Karnataka and holds women's minority institution status under Karnataka law.
What B.E. programmes does GITW offer?
GITW offers three four-year Bachelor of Engineering programmes under VTU: Computer Science & Engineering with 60 sanctioned seats, Electronics & Communication Engineering with 30 sanctioned seats and Information Science & Engineering with 30 sanctioned seats, for a total annual intake of 120 women. The programme mix is deliberately concentrated on disciplines that dominate Bengaluru's private-sector hiring across IT services, product companies, semiconductor and embedded systems firms and AI-first startups.
How does admission to GITW work?
Admission is restricted to female candidates and follows the Karnataka professional-college framework. Karnataka-domicile candidates apply through the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). National-pool and repeat-attempt candidates use the COMEDK UGET administered by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka. Eligibility is a pass in 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects plus Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Computer Science or Electronics, with minimum 45% aggregate (40% for SC/ST/OBC).
Do minority-institution and management-quota seats exist at GITW?
Yes. As a recognised women's minority engineering institution, GITW is entitled to minority-institution seat allocations under Karnataka law, which flow through the regular KEA and COMEDK allotment process. The college also operates a Management Quota that is filled directly by the institution subject to VTU and AICTE eligibility norms, and three-year diploma holders can enter the second year of B.E. through the Karnataka Diploma CET lateral-entry route.
What campus facilities does GITW offer?
The campus houses classrooms built to the standard VTU ordinance dimensions, drawing halls, computer laboratories equipped with the programming, database and data-science toolchains needed for the CSE and ISE curricula, electronic-circuits and communication laboratories for the ECE programme, a central library stocking VTU-prescribed texts and reference collections, campus Wi-Fi, a seminar and auditorium facility for guest lectures and cultural events, and a canteen and student common rooms. Hostel facilities are available within the Ghousia educational network.
What industry exposure opportunities does the location offer?
The Dairy Circle / Hosur Road location places the campus directly on the spine of the IT corridor that runs south from Bengaluru city centre through Koramangala, HSR Layout and Electronic City. Hosur Road itself hosts a dense cluster of IT-services, product, semiconductor and fintech companies, while metro and BMTC connectivity open up access to the broader Bengaluru tech ecosystem. This density of employers means that internship, project and recruitment opportunities tend to be accessible even for students of a new-batch institution like GITW.
How should I contact GITW and verify current admission information?
The official website is https://gitw.in, which carries the prospectus, current-year admission notifications and faculty details. The campus is at DRC Post, Dairy Circle, Hosur Road, Sadduguntepalya, Bengaluru 560029. Because tuition fees, branch-wise cut-off ranks and minority-institution seat distributions change every admission cycle under KEA and COMEDK notifications, prospective students should cross-verify the current prospectus, KEA counselling schedule and COMEDK portal before finalising any application or fee-payment decisions.
