Campus Life
**IIT Patna** sits on a 500-acre campus at Bihta, ~30 km from Patna city. Patna airport and railway connectivity to all major Indian cities is good. Climate is hot summer, mild winter.
**IIT Bhilai** is at Kutelabhata, Durg district, Chhattisgarh. The current campus is smaller (~70-80 acres operational) with construction ongoing for the full 350-acre permanent site. Connectivity to Bhilai/Raipur is reasonable.
Both have full residential B.Tech programmes. IIT Patna has more developed clubs, technical events, and alumni-driven activities.
Verdict
**Pick IIT Patna** if: you want a more established IIT with deeper alumni network, broader branch options, slightly better placements.
**Pick IIT Bhilai** if: your closing rank is at the upper end (8,000-12,000) and IIT Patna isn''t accessible, or if Data Science & AI as a dedicated branch is your interest.
For most JEE Advanced students with a closing rank under 8,000, IIT Patna is the stronger pick. Beyond rank 10,000, IIT Bhilai is a viable IIT-tag option.
