MSRIT fills management quota B.E. seats through a merit-based process. Here is the step-by-step process: Step 1 — Check Eligibility: Pass 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, minimum 45% aggregate (40% for SC/ST). No entrance exam required for management quota — selection is based on 10+2 PCM merit. Step 2 — Contact Admissions Office: Check seat availability in your preferred branch through the official website msrit.edu before visiting. The admissions office is at MSR Nagar, Mathikere, Bangalore 560054. Step 3 — Visit and Submit Documents: Bring originals and photocopies of: 10th marks card, 12th marks card, Transfer Certificate, Conduct Certificate, 4 passport photos, Aadhar card, and caste certificate (if applicable). Step 4 — Merit Shortlisting and Allotment: Seats are allotted on academic merit in 10+2 PCM. No donation or capitation fee is involved. MSRIT issues official receipts for all fee payments — do not pay any agent or intermediary. Step 5 — Fee Payment and Confirmation: Once allotted, fee payment must be completed within 48 hours. Founding & Identity
M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology was founded on 4 August 1962 by Dr. M.S. Ramaiah, the industrialist-philanthropist whose family still runs the parent Gokula Education Foundation (GEF). The first principal Prof. C.R. Ramachandran started the institute with two branches — Electrical and Mechanical Engineering — and intakes of 60 students each. ECE was added in 1975, Industrial & Production Engineering (now IEM) in 1979, CSE in 1984, Architecture in 1992, MCA in 1997, MBA in 1998. ISO 9001 certification came in 2000 and has been renewed four times (2003, 2007, 2010). NBA accredited the major UG programmes in February 2001. In 2007 VTU and UGC jointly granted autonomous status for both UG and PG programmes, effective AY 2007-08 — a status the institute has held continuously since.
The institute sits on roughly 25 acres within the 85-acre GEF education complex at MSR Nagar, Mathikere, Bangalore-560054. Its ~35,000-strong alumni network runs deep through Bangalore''s IT, semiconductor and aerospace ecosystem. The current Principal Dr. N.V.R. Naidu has held the top post since June 2014 — he joined MSRIT as a Lecturer in 1982, making him a 36-year institutional veteran. The Chief Academic Advisor Dr. Karisiddappa was Vice Chancellor of VTU Belagavi from 26-September-2016 to 30-September-2022.
