Overview
Presidency University Bangalore and Bangalore Institute of Technology (BIT) represent two very different positions in Bangalore engineering. Presidency is a young (2013) Karnataka State Private University with 100-acre Itgalpura campus in north Bengaluru. BIT is a private-aided institution (1979) with a compact 13-acre VV Puram campus in central Bengaluru.
Academics
Presidency offers an extensive portfolio including Petroleum Engineering and Architecture alongside traditional engineering. BIT runs a focused VTU-autonomous B.E. portfolio centred on CSE, ECE, EEE, Mechanical, Civil and Industrial Engineering. Presidency has broader programme range; BIT has 45+ years of engineering heritage.
Placements
Presidency 2024 placements: highest ~₹35 LPA, average ₹5 LPA, ~80% placement rate. BIT 2024 placements: highest ~₹40-45 LPA, average ₹6-9 LPA, ~80% rate. BIT has higher peak and average; Presidency has comparable rate. BIT attracts Microsoft, Cisco, Goldman Sachs; Presidency has wider service-major recruitment.
Fees
Presidency tuition ~₹3,00,000-4,50,000/year; Management Quota CSE ₹6-9L Year-1 (₹26-36L total). BIT KCET fees heavily subsidised at ~₹65,000-85,000/year (private-aided); COMEDK ~₹2,40,000/year; Management Quota CSE ₹15L Year-1 (₹60L total). BIT is materially cheaper at KCET; Presidency cheaper at management quota.
Campus Life
Presidency has a 100-acre north-Bengaluru campus with airport corridor proximity and modern infrastructure. BIT has a compact 13-acre VV Puram campus in central Bengaluru with excellent transport access (multiple BMTC routes, near Lalbagh and Banashankari/Jayanagar metro). Presidency for sprawl + remote location; BIT for central + heritage.
Verdict
BIT is the better choice for KCET-quota students seeking the lowest fees and central Bengaluru location with deep engineering heritage. Presidency is the better choice for students wanting Petroleum Engineering, larger modern campus, or proximity to BIAL airport corridor.
