Sri Siddhartha School of Engineering (SSSE), Tumkur — Fees, Placements & Admission 2025

SSSE was constituted in 2024 when the campus of the former HMS Institute of Technology at NH-4 Kyathsandra, Tumkur was brought under Sri Siddhartha Academy of Higher Education (SSAHE) and rebranded as Sri Siddhartha School of Engineering. It is operated under SSAHE, a Deemed-to-be-University notified on 30 May 2008 under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956, which in turn is sponsored by Sri Siddhartha Education Society, founded in 1959 by Shikshana Bhishma late Sri H. M. Gangadhariah with the blessings of Sri Vinoba Bhave.

SSSE sits on NH-4 (now NH-48) near Kyathsandra Toll Gate, Tumkur 572104, Karnataka — the campus that earlier housed HMS Institute of Technology. SSIT, Sri Siddhartha Institute of Technology, is the older flagship SSAHE engineering college located at Maralur, Tumkur. Both fall under the same SSAHE Deemed-to-be-University umbrella, but SSSE is the newer, distinctly branded engineering constituent on the Kyathsandra highway campus, whereas SSIT runs the legacy SSAHE engineering programmes at Maralur.

SSSE continues the four B.E. programmes inherited from the HMS Institute of Technology campus — Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering. The four-year curriculum is VTU-aligned in structure and is now taught under the SSAHE Deemed-to-be-University academic framework. Additional specialisations and PG streams may be introduced under SSAHE-approved syllabi as the college stabilises its post-takeover academic portfolio.

Because SSSE operates under SSAHE, a Deemed-to-be-University, the degrees are awarded by SSAHE itself and not by an external affiliating university such as VTU. The curriculum structure inherited from the earlier HMSIT years is VTU-aligned, but the examination and degree-awarding authority now sits with SSAHE under the UGC Deemed-University framework. Students therefore graduate with B.E. degrees issued by Sri Siddhartha Academy of Higher Education, Tumkur.

SSSE inherits and continues the infrastructure of the former HMS Institute of Technology campus at Kyathsandra — departmental laboratories across CSE, ECE, Mechanical and Civil branches, a central library with digital and physical resources, a central computing and IT facility, seminar halls, classrooms and basic sports and transport facilities. Students also have access to the wider SSAHE ecosystem including Sri Siddhartha Medical College and Hospital, Sri Siddhartha Dental College and Sri Siddhartha College of Education for collaborative academic and welfare activities.
