Smt. Kamala and Sri Venkappa M. Agadi College of Engineering and Technology (SKSVMACET) was established in the year 2003 at Laxmeshwar, in Shirhatti taluk of Gadag district, Karnataka. The college was founded by its Founder Chairman, the late Sri Venkappa M. Agadi, who set up the institution as a tribute named after himself and his wife Smt. Kamala, with the declared dream of transforming his birthplace — then a small town — into a permanent centre of engineering education for North Karnataka.

Laxmeshwar sits on the corridor that connects Gadag district headquarters to the Hubballi-Dharwad twin-city (the second-largest urban centre of Karnataka), so the campus combines a semi-rural North Karnataka location with direct highway connectivity to the Hubballi-Dharwad industrial corridor and the wider Gadag, Haveri and Belagavi region.

SKSVMACET is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, and certified under the ISO 9001:2015 quality management standard. It is also a participating institution in COMEDK UGET and is recognised by the Government of Karnataka through its VTU affiliation.

SKSVMACET offers seven B.E. branches: Computer Science and Engineering (CSE); Computer Science and Engineering in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (CSE AI & ML); Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE); Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE); Information Science and Engineering (ISE); Mechanical Engineering; and Civil Engineering. This gives students a broad choice of traditional and forward-looking engineering disciplines within a single VTU-affiliated, AICTE-approved campus at Laxmeshwar.

Admission to the B.E. programmes is made through three main routes. Karnataka-state candidates apply through the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority. All-India and private-quota merit candidates apply through the COMEDK Under Graduate Entrance Test (UGET), on which SKSVMACET is explicitly listed as "Smt. Kamala and Sri Venkappa M. Agadi College of Engineering & Technology — Laxmeswar, Gadag". Management and NRI seats are admitted under AICTE and institutional norms.

Candidates must have passed the 10+2 (PUC-II) examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, and Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Computer Science or Electronics as the third subject. The minimum aggregate required is 45 percent (40 percent for Karnataka reserved categories). For the Computer Science and Engineering in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning stream candidates need an adequate mathematics and computing foundation as per VTU B.E. regulations. Lateral entry to the second year of B.E. is through the Karnataka Diploma CET (DCET).

SKSVMACET spreads over an approximately 60-acre green campus on Savanur Road, with around 24.24 acres of built-up academic and residential area. The campus houses departmental laboratories across all seven B.E. branches, a digital library with computer access, classrooms and seminar halls, separate hostels for boys and girls with dedicated wardens, sports grounds, campus-wide Wi-Fi, a canteen and transport services.
