KVG College of Engineering (KVGCE), Sullia was established in 1986 by Late Dr. Kurunji Venkatramana Gowda, an educationist whose guiding philosophy "JNANAM SARVATHRA SADHANAM" aimed to turn Sullia into a Vidya Kashi. The college was the first private or semi-government technical education initiative in Dakshina Kannada and is sponsored by the Academy of Liberal Education (R), Sullia D.K., a registered trust established in 1967 that today operates a multi-college educational complex spanning medical, dental, ayurvedic, nursing, law, polytechnic and pre-university institutions.

KVG College of Engineering holds AICTE Permanent ID 1-4083884 as listed on the COMEDK college profile and the AICTE approval dashboard. It is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi through affiliation reference VTU/ACA-LIC/2022-23/SO/7043 under the Mangalore region. As of 2025-26 KVGCE offers five active undergraduate B.E. branches: Computer Science and Engineering with an intake of 120, CSE with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning with an intake of 60, Electronics and Communication Engineering with an intake of 60, Civil Engineering with an intake of 60 and Mechanical Engineering with an intake of 30. Legacy branches such as Information Science and Engineering and Electrical and Electronics Engineering no longer appear on the current academic navigation. KVGCE offers M.Tech programmes in Computer Science and Engineering, Construction Technology and Digital Electronics and Communication Engineering, alongside an established MBA programme running since 1998 with 120 seats under Director Dr. Sunil Kumar across dual specialisations in Finance, Marketing and Human Resources. The CSE department also operates a VTU-recognised PhD research centre active since 2010 with five recognised guides. M.Tech admissions are routed through Karnataka PGCET counselling under KEA code 841 or GATE-qualified direct admission, while MBA admissions use KMAT or Karnataka PGCET under code 231.

KVGCE follows the Karnataka private-unaided engineering seat-sharing order with approximately 45 percent of B.E. seats filled through Government of Karnataka KCET counselling by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) under college code E054, and the remaining 55 percent filled through COMEDK UGET, management and Supernumerary NRI channels. Eligibility requires PUC or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics plus one among Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Electronics or Computer Science, and a minimum aggregate of 45 percent for general and 40 percent for reserved categories.
