KLE Society's KLE College of Engineering and Technology (KLECET) was established in 2008 at Chikodi, a taluka headquarters town in Belagavi District, about 70 km from Belagavi city. The college is run by the Karnatak Lingayat Education (KLE) Society, Belagavi — a more than century-old educational society established in 1916 whose network today includes the KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research (KAHER, a deemed-to-be university) and more than three hundred institutions across education, medicine, dentistry, engineering, pharmacy and general academics.

The KLE Society was launched in 1916 in Belagavi by seven founding members known collectively as the Saptarishis, and has grown into one of Karnataka's foundational education movements. It is well-known across Karnataka for its pioneering work in medical, dental, engineering, pharmacy and general education — Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Belagavi, Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital, KAHER and a broad constellation of PU, degree and law institutions are all part of the KLE Society network. KLECET Chikodi extends that legacy to the sub-district taluka level.

The campus is at Chikodi, a taluka headquarters in Belagavi District, Karnataka 591201, approximately 70 kilometres from Belagavi city on the north-west Karnataka-Maharashtra border belt. The campus sprawls over about 16 acres at the foot of hillocks on the outskirts of Chikodi town, giving the institution a peri-urban residential character well-suited to its rural-youth mission. The location is accessible from Belagavi, Nipani, Kagwad, Athani and the surrounding Chikodi-Nipani agrarian belt.

KLECET is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. It is recognised by the Government of Karnataka and operates as a private self-financed non-minority institution. KLECET is also listed on the official COMEDK Karnataka Professional Colleges Foundation portal, which places it within both the KEA CET and COMEDK UGET admission pathways.

KLECET offers five four-year Bachelor of Engineering programmes under VTU with the following sanctioned intakes: Computer Science & Engineering (120 seats), Electronics & Communication Engineering (60 seats), Artificial Intelligence & Data Science (60 seats), Civil Engineering (60 seats) and Mechanical Engineering (60 seats). The total sanctioned intake is 360. The portfolio deliberately combines modern software-and-AI disciplines with the core civil and mechanical branches that feed the region's construction, irrigation and sugar-industry employment.

KLECET was set up in 2008 specifically to provide quality technical education to rural youth from the Chikodi-Nipani-Kagwad-Athani belt of north-west Karnataka — a region where students historically had to migrate to Belagavi, Hubballi or across the state border to Kolhapur for professional engineering education. The 16-acre peri-urban campus, the hostel infrastructure and the fee structure are all oriented around that access mandate, and the KLE Society's century-old commitment to accessible education is the guiding philosophy.

Karnataka-domicile students apply through the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). Eligibility is a pass in 10+2 / Pre-University with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Computer Science or Electronics, and minimum 45% aggregate (40% for SC/ST/OBC). After KCET results, rank-holders register on the KEA portal, participate in option entry and online counselling, and receive seat allotment for KLECET branches rank-wise across CSE, ECE, AI&DS, Civil and Mechanical Engineering.

Candidates outside the KCET pool can apply through the COMEDK UGET administered by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka, which is open to candidates across India. KLECET is listed on the official COMEDK Karnataka Professional Colleges Foundation portal. The college also operates a Management Quota that is filled directly by the institution subject to AICTE/VTU eligibility norms, and three-year diploma holders can enter the second year of B.E. through the Karnataka Diploma CET lateral-entry route across all five offered branches.
