Ghousia College of Engineering (GCE) was established in 1980 at Ramanagara on the Bangalore-Mysore highway. It is run by the Ghousia Industrial and Engineering Trust (GIET), founded in 1962 by Lt. Janab Alhaj Nabi Sharieff Saheb in memory of his father Lt. Janab Mohammed Ghouse Saheb. GCE is a unit of the Al-Ameen Movement, the wider Muslim educational and social-service movement headquartered in Bangalore, and operates as a minority institution under GIET alongside sister institutions such as Ghousia Institute of Technology for Women (GITW, Bangalore), Ghousia Polytechnic and Ghousia Pre-University Colleges.

GCE is located at B.M. Road, Vijaya Nagar, Ramanagara, Karnataka 562159, on the Bangalore-Mysore highway (NH-275). The campus spans approximately 35 acres, is situated about 45 km from Bengaluru and roughly 80 km from Mysuru, giving students direct access to the Bengaluru technology corridor as well as the Mysuru industrial and academic belt. Ramanagara is a district headquarters town well connected by rail, road and highway bus services, and the college runs its own transport fleet linking Ramanagara, Channapatna, Bangalore and Mysore.

Yes. GCE is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, and approved by AICTE, New Delhi. Eligible programmes carry NBA accreditation for the cycle 01 July 2023 to 30 June 2028. GCE is a non-autonomous VTU-affiliated college, and admissions and examinations follow the current VTU scheme and CBCS curriculum applicable to affiliated engineering colleges in Karnataka.

GCE offers undergraduate B.E. programmes across both classical and emerging engineering disciplines. The core streams are Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Information Science and Engineering (ISE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering. In addition, GCE has introduced newer specialisations including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cyber Security to align with the demand for next-generation computing and security professionals. Aggregator listings indicate a total of about 19 UG, PG and doctoral courses spanning around ten specialisations.

At the postgraduate level, GCE offers five M.Tech specialisations under the VTU postgraduate framework, typically spanning computer-science, electronics, electrical, mechanical, civil and related disciplines. The college also runs M.Sc research programmes and PhD doctoral research in multiple engineering departments, recognised as a VTU research centre. Admissions to B.E. programmes are based on KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test) counselling conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority, COMEDK UGET for merit-based private-quota seats, and JEE (Main) where applicable. Additional seats are filled through the management and minority-quota channels administered directly by the Ghousia Industrial and Engineering Trust. Lateral-entry admissions to the second-year B.E. are based on Karnataka Diploma CET (DCET). M.Tech admissions use PGCET or GATE scores, while PhD candidates follow VTU research-admission norms.

For B.E. admission candidates must have passed the Karnataka 10+2 PUC-II examination or an equivalent qualifying exam with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with one of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Computer Science or Electronics as the third science. The minimum aggregate required is 45% (40% for reserved categories in Karnataka) in the three subjects taken together, and candidates must additionally qualify through KCET, COMEDK UGET or JEE (Main) as applicable. Minority-quota candidates must meet GIET's community and documentation requirements.

GCE provides separate hostels for boys and girls with hygienic mess facilities, 24x7 water and power back-up, common rooms, study rooms and resident wardens. The 35-acre campus also houses a central library with reference books, e-resources and digital journals, a central computing facility with high-speed internet, auditorium, seminar halls, sports grounds, gymnasium, canteen, on-campus medical support and prayer facilities. The college operates a transport fleet for day-scholars on routes covering Ramanagara town, Channapatna, Bangalore and Mysore.
