Halakatti College of Engineering and Technology (BLDEACET), Vijayapura was established in 1980 by the Bijapur (Vijayapura) Lingayath District Educational Association (BLDEA) — one of the oldest and most respected education societies of North Karnataka, whose ecosystem spans schools, PU colleges, degree colleges, law, pharmacy, polytechnic and the BLDE Deemed-to-be University, of which Shri B.M. Patil Medical College and Hospital is a flagship.
Who was Dr. P.G. Halakatti and why is the college named after him?
The college is named after Vachana Pitamaha Dr. P.G. Halakatti (1880-1964), an eminent Vijayapura-born scholar, lawyer, editor and publisher who pioneered the rediscovery, compilation and publication of Vachana literature from the Sharana movement. He is regarded as the foremost modern guardian of Vachana heritage, and BLDEA honours his legacy by naming the engineering college after him.

B.E. admission is through KCET via KEA online counselling, COMEDK UGET via COMEDK counselling, JEE-Main through CSAB Special Rounds for All India Quota and institutional management quota. B.Arch admission requires a valid NATA or JEE-Main Paper-2 score and goes through KCET or COMEDK architecture counselling. Diploma holders can enter the 2nd year through the Karnataka Diploma CET.
