VNR VJIET was established in 1995 by the Vignana Jyothi society as a private engineering college named in honour of Dr Vallurupalli Nageswara Rao, the founder-patron. It is affiliated to JNTU Hyderabad and was granted academic autonomy by JNTUH and the UGC in 2008.
