First-year B.Tech students are typically allocated triple-sharing rooms with double and single occupancy from the second year by seniority. Mess service includes vegetarian, non-vegetarian, Jain and Continental options serving North Indian, Madhya Pradesh local cuisine, South Indian and Continental rotations. Wi-Fi, hot-water geysers, gymnasium access, study lounges and CCTV are standard.

FAQ

VIT AP FAQs

What is the B.Tech fee at VIT-AP for 2026-27?
VIT-AP B.Tech tuition is category-based and linked to VITEEE rank. Group B (Core CSE and CSE specialisations like AI & ML, Cyber Security, Data Science, Cloud and Blockchain) starts at ₹1.98 lakh per year for Category 1, ₹3.07 lakh for Category 2, ₹3.70 lakh for Category 3 and around ₹4.70 lakh for Category 4. Group A (ECE, Mechanical, Civil, Biotechnology, Chemical, EEE) starts at ₹1.73-1.76 lakh per year at Category 1 and scales similarly to Group B. Total four-year B.Tech tuition averages about ₹7.83 lakh. Hostel with AC room and compulsory mess is ₹1.87-2.08 lakh per year; Non-AC options are ₹30,000-50,000 cheaper.
What one-time charges apply at VIT-AP in the first year?
First-year students pay a one-time admission fee of ₹15,000, a refundable caution deposit of ₹3,000-10,000 and, if opting for on-campus accommodation, a one-time hostel admission fee of ₹15,000 plus a refundable ₹15,000 hostel caution. Annual hostel-plus-mess packages start at ₹1.87 lakh for a 3-bed AC room and ₹2.08 lakh for a 4-bed AC room, with Non-AC variants ₹30-50k cheaper and 2-bed AC suites at a premium. The all-in first-year outflow (Cat 1 CSE with 4-bed AC hostel) typically works out to ₹4.40-4.60 lakh including tuition, caution, admission fees, hostel and mess.
Are scholarships available at VIT-AP?
Yes. VIT-AP runs the STARS scholarship programme offering up to 75-100% tuition waiver for top VITEEE rank holders (typically ranks 1-100 secure full waivers, 101-1,000 substantial, 1,001-5,000 partial). Sibling concessions, sports scholarships and the GV School Development Programme scholarships inherited from the VIT Group are also available. SC/ST/OBC candidates can claim central and state government post-matric scholarships applied against the published fee. International scholarships for NRI/foreign students are granted case-by-case. Students must maintain a minimum CGPA of 6.5-7.0 for renewal in subsequent years.
What is the VIT-AP B.Tech admission process?
B.Tech admission is via VITEEE 2026, conducted by the VIT Group. Registration opens on 24 October 2025 and closes 12 April 2026 on viteee.vit.ac.in with a ₹1,350 application fee. The test is computer-based, 2 hours 30 minutes long, with 125 MCQs across Mathematics or Biology (40), Physics (35), Chemistry (35), English (5) and Aptitude (10), with +4 for correct and -1 for wrong answers. Counselling opens late May 2026 in multiple online rounds; candidates fill campus and branch preferences and allotment is based on VITEEE rank and Category fee slab, with option to switch within the VIT Group (Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal, AP) during the flow.
What is the VITEEE cutoff for CSE at VIT-AP?
For Category 1 (lowest-fee slab) at VITEEE 2025, VIT-AP Core CSE closed around rank 20,000-45,000, and CSE specialisations (AI & ML, Cyber Security, Data Science, Cloud, Blockchain) closed around 25,000-65,000. ECE, Mechanical, EEE closed between 30,000-100,000 and Civil, Biotechnology, Chemical between 60,000-120,000+. VIT-AP is the most accessible campus in the VIT Group — VIT Vellore Core CSE closes at VITEEE rank 1,400-5,000 and Chennai at 6,000-8,000, so aspirants who miss Vellore routinely secure CSE specialisations at Amaravati.
Does VIT-AP accept JEE Main or SAT for B.Tech admission?
VIT-AP B.Tech admission is primarily via VITEEE. JEE Main scores and SAT scores are used for the NRI / international / direct-admission quota with case-by-case fee banding, subject to seat availability — exact score cutoffs are not publicly fixed and are set each year by merit. For most Indian students, VITEEE is the primary and most affordable route. GATE (plus interview) is the route for M.Tech, CAT/MAT/XAT for MBA, and JET/School-specific tests for other UG programmes. Applicants should confirm the latest quota and cutoff on vitap.ac.in each admission cycle.
How are placements at VIT-AP?
VIT-AP's 2024-25 placement drive recorded 800+ recruiters, a highest package of ₹96.26 LPA and an average of ₹14.43 LPA, with over 3,800 offers above ₹5.5 LPA in the Super Dream band and 93%+ placement for eligible students. Top recruiters include Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Morgan Stanley, Pay Pal, JP Morgan, Intel, TCS, Cognizant, Infosys, DE Shaw, Dyte and App Dynamics. The Career Development Centre runs structured aptitude, data structures, communication and soft-skills training from the third semester onwards.
