Sha-Shib College of Engineering (SSCE) Chikkaballapur was established in 2009 as the Karnataka engineering unit of the Sha-Shib Group of Institutions. The parent Sha-Shib Group was founded in 1991 at Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) and is widely described on its corporate portals as the largest group in South Asia for Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) training, operating 13 colleges across nine Indian cities along with AME institutes, a flying club and aerospace research units.

SSCE operates from an 11.4-acre campus at No. 73/1, Varlakonda (Varalakonda) Village, Somenahalli Hobli, Gudibande Taluk, along NH-7 on the BB Road, Chikkaballapur District, Karnataka 562104. The site is approximately 42 kilometres from Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru — a deliberate location given the group's aviation focus — and is easily reachable by road from Bengaluru, Chikkaballapur, Kolar and the Andhra border belt.

SSCE is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, and recognised by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Government of Karnataka. All B.E. degrees are awarded under the VTU scheme of examinations, with the same academic currency as other VTU-affiliated engineering colleges across the state.

SSCE offers five four-year B.E. undergraduate programmes under the VTU scheme: Aeronautical Engineering (the flagship), Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) and Civil Engineering. Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Mathematics and one of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Computer Science or Electronics, securing at least 45 percent aggregate (40 percent for SC, ST and OBC candidates from Karnataka).

SSAT is a national-level entrance and scholarship examination administered by the Sha-Shib Group. Rank holders in SSAT qualify for merit-linked fee concessions drawn from a multi-crore scholarship pool that the group publishes each admission cycle, making it one of the more generous private-college scholarship schemes available for aeronautical and engineering aspirants. Yes. Three-year diploma holders in engineering can join the second year of B.E. at SSCE through the Karnataka Diploma CET (DCET) conducted by KEA.
