About National Institute of Design (NID) Bengaluru

National Institute of Design, Bengaluru Extension Campus is a design college in Bengaluru, Karnataka, established in 2006. It is affiliated to National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. National Institute of Design, Bengaluru Extension Campus offers 5 programmes at postgraduate level. They are Design for Retail Experience (M.Des.), Digital Game Design (M.Des.), Information Design (M.Des.), Interaction Design (M.Des.) and Universal Design (M.Des.). The stated sanctioned intake across these programmes totals 95 seats. The official campus page identifies it at #12 HMT Link Road, Yeshwanthpur, Bengaluru, and states that it offers only M.Des. programmes. For 2026-27, the official M.Des admissions handbook lists five Bengaluru disciplines—Universal Design, Digital Game Design, Information Design, Interaction Design and Design for Retail Experience—with 19 seats each, and admission through the two-stage DAT. The campus page names Susanth CS as Dean. Officially named Bengaluru resources include the AV Lab and Skill Development Lab; the campus-specific faculty page lists faculty names but does not provide a dated total or rank-wise count. Bengaluru-specific research centres include the Centre for Bamboo Initiatives and Smart Handloom Innovation Centre. The campus was inaugurated/established in March 2006 and began academic programmes in 2007-08. For 2026-27 it hosts only M.Des. programmes; it is not a B.Des. host campus. The official source states five disciplines with 19 seats each, but the campus-facts schema does not provide a dedicated seats-per-programme metric, so those figures are retained as other rows without discipline labels.
