KL University (officially Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation / KLEF) is a 100-acre Deemed-to-be University on the banks of the Buckingham Canal at Vaddeswaram in Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh, roughly 8 km from Vijayawada city. It traces back to the founding of K L College of Engineering (KLCE) in the 1980-81 academic session by Er. Koneru Satyanarayana under the Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation trust, and was granted Deemed-to-be University status in February 2009 under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. Governance is anchored by Founder-Chancellor Er.
