Overview
About Karnatak University, Dharwad
Karnatak University is an university in Dharwad, Karnataka, established in 1949. It is affiliated to Karnatak University. Karnatak University offers 12 programmes, 4 at undergraduate level and 7 at postgraduate level. These include Faculty of Arts: UG programmes (UG), Faculty of Science: UG programmes (UG), Faculty of Commerce: UG programmes (UG), Faculty of Management: UG programmes (UG) and Faculty of Arts: PG programmes (PG), among others. Official university sources identify Karnatak University as a state university established in 1949, with an 888-acre campus, University Scientific and Instruments Centre and 52 postgraduate departments. For 2026-27, the latest located academic framework is the university's 2024-25 draft UG regulation: six-semester ordinary UG structure, two semesters per academic year, and 75% attendance per semester and course, with up to 20% condonation for approved activities. The official regulations page confirms a Ph.D. programme regulation, but no named recognized Ph.D. research-centre count, university-wide faculty total, dated Ph.D.-guide count, patent count, publication count, or funded-project total was explicitly available in the reviewed official sources. Parent university/main Dharwad campus, not an affiliated college or constituent college. The official university profile states that the Karnatak University Act was enacted in 1949 and the university became functional/statutory on 1 March 1950; UGC lists the establishment year as 1949. The profile is undated, so campus, programme and enrolment figures are reported as published rather than treated as confirmed 2026-27 intake. The university has five constituent colleges and reports 235 affiliated colleges; affiliated-college data are not merged into this university's own profile. No NIRF 2025 University rank was identified in the official ranking table. No current admissions-specific contact was published in the sources reviewed.
