Ekalavya Institute of Technology (EIT), Chamarajanagar was established in 2009 under the SGN Charitable Trust and commenced academic operations in the 2009-10 session. The institute was promoted by the late Mr. R.K. Govil, who served as Chairman until his passing in January 2024; the leadership transition is ongoing. EIT is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

The EIT campus is located in Ummathur Village, Santhemarahalli Hobli, Chamarajanagar Taluk and District, Karnataka (PIN 571316). It lies approximately twenty-five kilometres north of Chamarajanagar town and about ninety kilometres south-east of Mysuru on the Karnataka state highway network. The eighteen-acre rural campus gives the college a quiet green setting well away from central Bengaluru and metropolitan distractions.

The institute is AICTE approved and VTU affiliated, which are the core regulatory requirements for degree-award status, but higher-order quality labels from NAAC, NBA and NIRF are absent. Prospective students should weigh this when comparing EIT against accredited peers.

EIT offers four classical four-year Bachelor of Engineering programmes under VTU in 2025-26: Civil Engineering (approximately 60 seats), Computer Science and Engineering (approximately 30 seats), Electronics and Communication Engineering (approximately 30 seats) and Mechanical Engineering (approximately 60 seats), for a combined undergraduate sanctioned intake of roughly 180 seats. Emerging-tech specialisations such as CSE Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Data Science or Cyber Security are not offered here.

EIT Chamarajanagar runs a single postgraduate programme — M.Tech in Structural Engineering (two-year full-time) — with a sanctioned intake of eighteen seats. Admission is through the Karnataka Post-Graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET) or a valid GATE score. The institute does not offer MBA or MCA programmes on campus. Applicants who seek management or computer applications postgraduate degrees should look at other VTU-affiliated colleges in the Mysuru and Bengaluru regions.

Ekalavya Institute of Technology participates in KEA counselling under KCET college code E195. The code appears in the Karnataka Examinations Authority participating-colleges lists for B.E. admissions. Limited COMEDK participation has also been reported with code E049 on some aggregator sources, but candidates should verify the current year's COMEDK registration status directly from comedk.org before opting to apply through that route.

Candidates must have passed the 10+2 Second PUC or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, together with one of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Electronics or Computer Science, and English as a qualifying language. The minimum aggregate is forty-five per cent for General, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B categories, and forty per cent for SC, ST and Category-I candidates. A valid KCET 2025 rank is mandatory; seats are allocated via KEA online counselling.

EIT's on-campus placement record has historically been modest. Publicly available 2024-25 placement statistics are sparse; aggregator sources cite an average package in the low single-digit lakhs per annum range, and multiple student reviews describe limited on-campus drives. Promotional listings of Infosys, Accenture, TCS, Wipro, L&T and HCL as recruiters should be cross-verified with the official placement office, since student feedback on Careers360 and Collegedunia rates campus placement activity at one to two-plus on five.
