Overview
About Saranathan College of Engineering
Saranathan College of Engineering is an engineering college in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, established in 1998. Saranathan College of Engineering is autonomous. It is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. Saranathan College of Engineering offers 14 programmes, 10 at undergraduate level and 5 at postgraduate level. These include Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning), Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Business Systems and Computer Science and Engineering, among others. The stated sanctioned intake across these programmes totals 804 seats. Saranathan College of Engineering is a private self-financing engineering college in Panjappur, Tiruchirappalli, approved by AICTE and affiliated with Anna University. The college states that it received UGC autonomous status for a 10-year period beginning in 2024-25. Its website states that seven eligible branches—CSE, ECE, EEE, ICE, IT, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering—are NBA accredited until 31 December 2028. The available AICTE approval document is for 2024-25, not the target year 2026-27; therefore no target-year course intake or approval figures are asserted here. The official site identifies Dr. D. Valavan as Principal, but does not state his qualification on the cited contact/governance pages. Private self-financing, non-minority, co-educational engineering college. UGC autonomous status is stated by the college as effective for 10 years from academic year 2024-25; it remains affiliated to Anna University for the degree-awarding relationship. Anna University sources show an inconsistency in the TNEA counselling code: the district list prints 3819, while the alphabetical list prints 3816; both are recorded only where printed.
