FAQ

KCTEC FAQs

When was KCT Engineering College Kalaburagi established and who runs it?
KCT Engineering College was established in 2001-02 at Kalaburagi (Gulbarga), Karnataka, as the engineering wing of the Hazrath Shaik Minhajuddin Ansari Kallerawan Charitable Trust (HSMAKCT), a religious-minority charitable trust founded in 1979 by the late Alhaj Dr Qamar-ul-Islam, former Minister in the Government of Karnataka. The college is registered with AICTE, is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, and is ISO 9001:2015 certified. It is NOT under "Khaja Education Society" — that society operates a different Kalaburagi college (Khaja Bandanawaz).
What is the KEA KCET option-entry code for KCT Engineering College?
The KEA KCET option-entry (college) code for KCT Engineering College Kalaburagi is E119, categorised as MR (Minority — Religious). Candidates enter E119 during KEA Round 1 option-entry against any of CSE, ECE, Mechanical or Civil. The institute/VTU code is 3KC. KCT does NOT participate in COMEDK UGET — minority-quota seats are instead filled through the Karnataka Religious & Linguistic Minority Professional Colleges Association (KRLMPCA), Bangalore, and residual seats are filled through the in-house Management Quota.
What B.E. branches are offered at KCT Kalaburagi and what is the 2025-26 seat intake?
KCT Engineering College offers four AICTE-approved B.E. programmes for 2025-26 with a total sanctioned intake of 270 seats: Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) 90, Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) 60, Mechanical Engineering 60 and Civil Engineering 60. This is up from 210 seats in 2024-25, via a fresh AICTE EoA approval of +30 seats each in CSE and ECE. Lateral entry to the 3rd semester for Diploma holders is available across all four branches through KEA DCET counselling.
Does KCT Engineering College offer M.Tech, MBA or MCA programmes?
No. E. programmes — CSE, ECE, Mechanical and Civil — along with the core Allied Sciences & Humanities department. Tech specialisations, no MBA and no MCA programmes; there are also no standalone VTU-recognised research centres, although NIRF-DCS 2026 reports four VTU-registered PhD scholars (three full-time and one part-time) currently pursuing doctorates under departmental faculty. Aggregator sites listing PG programmes here likely confuse this college with Kumaraguru College of Technology, Coimbatore, which shares the KCT acronym.
Is KCT Engineering College NAAC or NBA accredited, and is it ranked in NIRF?
In NIRF 2024 (Engineering), the college was not ranked and did not appear in any band — it is not among Karnataka's 9 top-100 NIRF-2024 engineering colleges.
What is the tuition fee at KCT Engineering College Kalaburagi for 2025-26?
Per the Karnataka State Fee Committee notification in MD 2025-26, the KCET / government-quota tuition is a uniform ₹1,21,610 per year across all four branches (CSE, ECE, Mechanical, Civil). Management Quota tuition is branch-specific: ₹1,40,000 per year for CSE, ₹80,000 for ECE and ₹60,000 each for Mechanical and Civil. Minority-quota (KRLMPCA) seats are charged on par with the government-quota fee. Hostel works out to approximately ₹60,000 per year (₹36,000 mess + ₹24,000 room). The college does not publish a separate NRI fee schedule.
What are the placement statistics at KCT Engineering College?
45 LPA from GINOX (UAE). 0 LPA median. Named recruiters include Bharat Electronics (Bangalore), Capgemini (Hyderabad), TATA Electronics Systems Solutions, JSpiders, QSpiders, PC Technology, Pathfront, Manickbag Automobiles, Creative Engineers, AVIIN Technology, Action Design Engineers and Doctronic.
