Overview
About Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences
Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences is an engineering college in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, established in 1986. It is affiliated to Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences (Deemed to be University). Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences offers 2 programmes at undergraduate level. They are B.Tech Computer Engineering and B.Tech. (CSE, Cse(aiml), Cse(ai), CSE(Cyber Security), AIDS, ECE). Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences is a deemed-to-be university in Coimbatore, established in 1986 and granted deemed-university status in 2004. The official 2023 academic regulations specify a semester-based B.Tech structure, 165 credits, 80% attendance after OD/ML correction and a 70% physical-attendance floor. The NAAC Self Study Report attributes 131 laboratories, 19 research centres, 66 published patents (5 granted and 2 commercialized), Rs. No college-specific dated faculty total or engineering principal was safely available from the reviewed official pages. The institution is identified as a deemed-to-be university, so university recognition—not an affiliated-college relationship—is the relevant recognition context for its engineering degrees. The institution was founded in 1986 as an engineering college, became autonomous in 1999, and was declared a deemed-to-be university by UGC in 2004. The 2026 admissions page is current for the target cycle. The official AICTE page was opened, but its visible document list does not currently display a 2026-27 approval letter; no 2026-27 course-level intake or AICTE application number is therefore asserted. As a deemed university, degree-awarding status is recorded as self-awarding/deemed rather than affiliation to a state technical university. The 476-acre figure is from the 2021 NAAC SSR and is historical, not a current-area claim.
