Overview
About Kannada University
Kannada University is an university in Hampi (Hospet), Karnataka, established in 1991. It is affiliated to Kannada University. Kannada University offers 11 programmes, 1 at undergraduate level and 5 at postgraduate level. These include Faculty of Fine Arts: B Music and related undergraduate offerings (UG), Faculty of Fine Arts: M V a. and M Music (PG), Faculty of Social Sciences: M.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication (PG), Faculty of Social Sciences: M.A. in Rural Development (PG) and Faculty of Science: M.Sc. in Yoga Studies (PG), among others. Kannada University, Hampi is listed by UGC as a State (Public) University established in 1992 and is included under Section 12(B). The current official site identifies it as a specialized, unitary, multidisciplinary research university at Vidyaranya, Hospet/Hosapete, Vijayanagara, Karnataka. The 2025 AAA report says many MoUs exist but few are functional, without naming counterparties, so no industry tie-up rows are asserted. Faculty figures differ by source and date: the 2025 AAA report states 38 faculty in 2019-25, while the 2021-22 AQAR reports 56 full-time teachers against 73 sanctioned posts. The UGC State (Public) University list dated 17.01.2024 prints 1992 for this university, so that conflicting historical/list value is retained here as a note rather than silently overwritten. The Act page supports the official address and contacts but does not itself state the 1991 year. The Welcome page identifies satellite campuses at Badami and Kuppalli; their data are not merged into this main-university campus fact set.
