IISc B.S. students are typically supported by INSPIRE-SHE fellowships (₹80,000 per year) for the full duration of study if they qualify based on KVPY or top JEE Advanced rank. KVPY scholarship holders receive their KVPY stipend through the programme. Additional institutional fellowships include the IISc Director's Research Scholarship and the IISc Centenary Scholarships for top performers. Defence wards qualify for PM Scholarship Scheme. SC/ST and economically backward students receive central government Post-matric scholarships. Sports quota admits and persons with disabilities qualify for separate institutional support. Several IISc B.S. students additionally win international fellowships during summer research stints — Charpak (France), DAAD (Germany), MITACS (Canada), S.N. Bose (US-India) — that fund research visits abroad. The IISc Financial Aid Office facilitates education loan support if needed for any extraordinary expenses; however, most B.S. students do not require loans given the heavily subsidised programme.
