IISc Bangalore alumni include Nobel Laureates (Sir C.V. Raman was IISc's third director), Bharat Ratna recipients (Sir M. Visvesvaraya, J.R.D. Tata served on the IISc Council), founders of Indian deep-tech and research institutions (the founders of Tata Steel, Tata Electric, ISRO, IIT Madras, IIT Bombay and several CSIR labs studied or taught at IISc), and senior scientific leadership at Google Research, Microsoft Research, Adobe Research, Bell Labs, Qualcomm, NVIDIA and Indian deep-tech startups. Many ISRO and DRDO senior scientists are IISc alumni.
